We have already got the furthest any British team has got to at the Euros regardless of result tonight.

In fact, no British side has ever won a game after the group stages at the Euros in history.*

*England drew 0-0 with Spain in Euro 96 in the last 16 and won on penalties.

They said on TV earlier that England got to the final ( 1960 I think they said ).

No, they must have got it wrong. In 1960 they didnt enter.

They got to the Semi Finals in 1968 - but in those days the semi finals came immediately after the group stages, only 4 teams went on and participated in the actual tournament finals. They lost to Yugoslavia 1-0.

Wales are the only British team in European Championship history to win a knock-out match, apart from that penalty victory in 96 in the last 16 for England.

I think there is a platform to build from, Bale & Ramsey have 3 more tournaments at the highest level so we just need a few youngsters to come through and improve us. I would love to have an 18 year old coming through like Portugal have with that Sanches fella

So you are confirming that Wales are the only team to have won a knockout game at the euros without the need of a shootout then? In fact we did it twice! (1-0 v Northern Ireland and 3-1 v Belgium).

Yes England got to the semis but it was a shorter format then. The quarters were immediately after the group stage, which they won on pens after drawing 0-0. So we technically have actually got the furthest, as we got through 6 tournament games where as they got knocked out after 5.
