Wolves chase ex-Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell
Former Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell is wanted by Wolves.

Powell is available on a free transfer after being released from Old Trafford last month.

He spent time on loan at Hull City last year – and the Tigers are also thought to be interested, along with a host of Championship clubs including Blackburn Rovers.

The deal is not believed to be dependent on any looming takeover.

Wolves are yet to offer a contract but have spoken to Powell's representatives and are interested in pursuing a deal.

Powell left hometown club Crewe in 2012 to join United for £4m and was hailed as one of the country’s brightest prospects.

However he departed Old Trafford with only 10 first team appearances to his name, spending a chunk of those four years on loan at Wigan Athletic, Leicester City and then Hull.

Wolves’ only signing so far this summer is goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.

Their Championship campaign kicks off precisely one month today, away at Rotherham United.

Carlos Tevez turned down £150,000-a-week deal to rejoin West Ham, confirms Hammers co-owner David Sullivan

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan says the Hammers offered former striker Carlos Tevez £150,000-a-week to return to the club but the Argentine refused as he wanted £250,000-a-week.
The 33-year-old spent a season at Upton Park in the 2006-2007 campaign and his form in the second half of the season helped keep the Hammers in the Premier League.
The former Manchester United and Manchester City striker is now with Boca Juniors but the Hammers are determined to make a statement signing before moving into the Olympic Stadium next season.
The Hammers have significant funds to spend this summer but Sullivan says Tevez has rejected the chance to rejoin the club because the east Londoners couldn’t match his wage demands.

‘All this business, “I love West Ham”, well it’s “I love West Ham if they give me £250,000 a week”,’ said Sullivan.
‘So how much love is that for West Ham? I actually offered him £150,000 a week to come back plus bonuses.
‘I thought that was an incredible offer for someone who loves West Ham. And it was a huge gamble for us because he’s 33 now and hasn’t done it in South America.
‘We tried to get Tevez but he wanted £250,000 a week – and is he past his best? He hasn’t set the world alight in South America.’
