PUEL’S FIRST SIGNING?

Newly-appointed Southampton manager Claude Puel is plotting a £12.5m move for Lille defender Djibril Sidibe, report the Daily Mirror.

Puel wants to make versatile 23-year-old, who can play right or left-back, his first signing after replacing Ronald Koeman at St Mary’s.

Saints face competition from Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Sidibe.

Sidibe, who made 42 appearances for Lille last season, scoring four goals, could replace Portugal full-back Cedric Soares, who is reportedly wanted by Barcelona.

Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurdsson is hoping his Euro 2016 heroics will earn him a move to the Premier League.


Chelsea have won the £30m race to capture Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.









Belgium defender Thomas Meunier has sealed his move to Paris Saint-Germain from Club Brugge.

The 24-year-old has joins the Ligue 1 champions on a four-year deal after making almost 200 appearances for Belgian side, with the two clubs confirming the deal on Sunday.

Meunier missed just one game during Belgium's run to the quarter-final in Euro 2016 and played 90 minutes in the their 3-1 defeat to Wales on Saturday.

"I am very honoured to have been chosen by Paris Saint-Germain to come and bolster a squad that already features a number of great players," Meunier told PSG’s official website.

LOPEZ EYES CHELSEA SWITCH

AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez could be on his way to Chelsea, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report suggests the Spaniard wants to leave the Rossoneri having slipped down the pecking order at the San Siro.

Lopez is thought to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge, despite Thibaut Courtois currently occupying the No. 1 spot.

NAPOLI TO HIJACK ZIELINSKI DEAL

Napoli are trying snatch Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski out of Liverpool’s grasp.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the player has a verbal agreement with Jurgen Klopp which he would like to honour by moving to Anfield.

However, Liverpool were unable to reach an agreement with Udinese, who have subsequently entered negotiations with Napoli.

Gazzetta go on to claim two Serie A rivals have struck a deal that will see Zielinski head to Naples for €12m plus Camilo Zuniga, with Zuniga then going on to Watford, who are owned by Udinese’s owners the Pozzo family.

PALACE CLOSE ON TOMKINS

Crystal Palace are close to completing a deal to sign James Tomkins within the next 24 hours, according to Sky sources.

Tomkins did not travel with the rest of the West Ham squad for their pre-season tour of America ahead of a proposed move to Selhurst Park.

He will become Palace manager Alan Pardew's third signing of the summer following the acquisitions of winger Andros Townsend from Newcastle and goalkeeper Steve Mandanda from Marseille.

SIGURDSSON SEEKS PL SWITCH

Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurdsson is hoping his Euro 2016 heroics will earn him a move to the Premier League, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 30-year-old centre-back, who plies his trade with Russian outfit FC Krasnodar, is a lifelong Liverpool fan and that would be his dream, while Tottenham and Leicester are reported to have both watched him.

“I think a lot of this team will get a transfer,” Sigurdsson said. “I have spoken with my agent and we will know more after the Euros.

KEANE REJECTS BURNLEY CONTRACT

Leicester City transfer target Michael Keane has cast further doubt on his future at Burnley after turning down their latest contract offer.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Keane has rejected a four-year extension and sent “the clearest indication yet” that he wants talks with the Premier League champions.

Sky sources understand Burnley have turned down two offers for Keane from Leicester, an initial £10m bid and an improved £12m offer.

Assistant manager Mark Bowen has confirmed Stoke's interest in Portugal international Nani.

"I know there is an interest there. Valencia are a big club but it is the draw of the Premier League," Bowen told talkSPORT.

"He is player that Mark [Hughes] admires a lot and he has had a very good tournament. Without giving too much away, there is an interest there and let's see what happens.

"In my opinion, he left the Premier League far too early. He had his time at Manchester United and had been a big player for them and he seemed to drift away rather than step into another club in the Premier League."

NEW BRADFORD COACHES

Bradford have appointed Steve Banks and Robert Lossau to join Stuart McCall's coaching staff.

Banks, 44, who spent a brief spell as a player at Bradford in 2002, comes in as goalkeeping coach having previously worked at Blackpool.

Lossau has been working with McCall for the past few weeks and joins the club from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

FORSTER AGREES EXTENSION

Jordan Forster has signed a new two-year contract extension at Hibernian, the club have confirmed.

The defender told Hibs TV: “It feels brilliant, obviously I was away for the second half of last season on loan down at Plymouth. Coming back and seeing the boys has been good.

“I’m just delighted to finally sign the two-year contract and work with the new manager and the new people he is bringing in.”

COOK CONFIRMS EXIT

Jordan Cook has paid tribute to Walsall fans after confirming his departure from the club.

As reported by the Express & Star, he said: “I just want to thank all of the fans for the constant support even through tough periods, also all the players and all the staff for everything over these past two great seasons.

“Made some great friends along the way and I wish the club nothing but success in the future which it truly deserves.”

Cook, who started his career at Sunderland, is expected to sign for a club in the north east.

RVP BACK TO THE PREM?

Robin van Persie could be set to return to the Premier League, according to The Independent and The Sun.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are both linked to the former Man Utd striker, who left Old Trafford for Fenerbahce a year ago.

Van Persie’s representatives have reportedly sounded out interest from English clubs, with the former Arsenal captain favouring a return to London.

More Bristol City news, and Sky sources understand Bournemouth midfielder Lee Tomlin is having a medical at Bristol City today.

Tomlin impressed during a loan spell at Ashton Gate in the second half of last season, when he scored six goals in 18 games.

A transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs.






BRISTOL CITY 'AGREE' DIEGO DEAL

Bristol City have agreed a deal to sign former Sheffield United winger Diego de Girolamo, according to the Bristol Post.

The free agent had been expected to join Chesterfield on trial this week, but is reportedly ready to pen a one-year contract with City.

Robins assistant head coach John Pemberton worked with De Girolamo during his time in charge of Sheffield United’s youth teams.

Former Newcastle and Blackpool forward Nile Ranger is set to sign for Southend United on a month-long deal, according to the Southend Echo.

The controversial striker has been involved in a number of disciplinary issues, but Southend are ready to offer him another chance.

EchoSport claims the League One club will have the option of extending his contract beyond a month if Ranger impresses, but will also be free to terminate the deal “if he misbehaves”.

BALO BACK AT LIVERPOOL

Jurgen Klopp held his first pre-season training session as Liverpool manager on Sunday as Mario Balotelli returned to the club ahead of the new Premier League season.

New signings Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Loris Karius and Marko Grujic all trained at Melwood for the first time alongside those Liverpool players not called up for international duty this summer.

A number of players who were loaned out last season, including Luis Alberto, Lazar Markovic, Balotelli and Allan, returned to the club.

Balotelli took part in Klopp's training session, which was also closely monitored by the German's assistant managers Peter Krawietz and Zeljko Buvac.
