Can anyone help with this ? Car, tax, insurance

Sun Jul 03, 2016 5:29 pm

Right my boys have been left a car in a will. The car has no Tax and we need to move it from Cardiff to a garage to have a recal part done. And then moved so it can be sold. Now I need to get a days insurance to move it, but also the car needs Tax. Now can't Tax it unless the car is insured. None of my boys can drive so it's left to me. How can this be done legally ?
Seems we are in a catch situation here. Helpful answers please.

Can't you get it on a flat bed truck? Most garages have them? I know it's a cost but surely the same has getting it taxed and insured?

Just a thought. :thumbright:

you will have to saw the car first with the dvla then you will be able to have a garage pick it up fix the problem for you then ask them to deliver back to you..you must keep it of public roads..ie you will have to put it on your hard stand or garage..hope that helps you nukes :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Cheers Chief it is now registered to my eldest son (long story on why he had to do that) and it's off the road. They want a quick sale so they are looking at any car.com shite thing. They will pick it up so I am told but I don't think they realise how low an offer they will receive for it.

If the isn't SORN'd it must be insurued, even if it is off road. Most Insurance will Companies will give you 'laid up' cover, which is cheap. Try an insurance broker and explain what you intend to do.

Reputable garages will have trade coveer on their Insurance ro allow them to get to their garage for any repairs etc.
