And I agree with Vince it's Really Sad that the British Media have to do this.
Certain sections of the British media have stated the Welsh Team is not All Welsh
By Vince Alm
How sad are certain sections of the English media press associations trying to discredit the welsh teams performance in the European Championship. Highlighting where certain players are born and play football.
what a poor reflection on the real views of my English friends and colleagues I have spoken to. They couldn't have been more supportive of the Welsh teams achievement and genuinely wanting us to do well.
The press really do not do themselves favours at times and perhaps before throwing stones inside a greenhouse should look closer to home first.
Thank you for all the kind words and support from my English friends

Why is this top of the page I could understand if any of players or management said it
Sun Jul 03, 2016 5:22 pm
Have a look at the English rugby team theres a few there who weren't English I have a strong view on this subject I'll have a chat to Vince when I see him next the English press should watch what they write

Who cares where they were born, they are eligible to play for our country as they meet the criteria. Other countries much larger than us take advantage of the rules there was a Brazilian born player playing for Italy only last night. If certain outlets of the media got nothing positive to say about us that says more about them than us.
Sun Jul 03, 2016 5:28 pm
Sounds like sour grapes to me,they can't criticise our performances so they have to pick up on something. We've done nothing wrong so get over it you sad fuckers. Imagine if we won the f*cking tournament they would go into meltdown and would probably start ba petition to have the tournament played again - and England would still be on the first plane home. Read in the paper today that the FA is consulting with the players who bombed out of the tournament who they think should be the new manager.Talk about clueless
Sun Jul 03, 2016 5:40 pm
They seem to forget that their English rugby and cricket teams had a fair few 'non English' members in their teams.
Still trying to claim some sort of credit even though poor old England were knocked out ages ago.
Sun Jul 03, 2016 5:44 pm
I maybe wrong, but wasn't Michael Owen actually born in Wales?!
Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:04 pm
No, Michael Owen was born in Chester.
George North was born in Norfolk too, wait until we beat then in rugby and I am sure they will claim him too.
Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:08 pm
Jealousies starting to kick in by the English press ????
They need to take a look at the problems they have on their own door step !!!
Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:10 pm
I am sure I read somewhere that although his parents were living in Chester at the time, his parents took him to a hospital on the north wales border and he was born in Wales.

Owen's birth location is similar to many players from North Wales and down to the proximity of hospitals.
His parents lived in North Wales but their designated hospital for maternity was in Chester so that is where he was born.
Not that this mattered as both his parents were English just living in North Wales.
Owen broke most of the Welsh school records for football but had no links to Wales at all, a bit like Giggs and his English schooling.
Had the Welsh NHS been funded better in North Wales he may have been born in Wales and he could have chosen his nation.

More fool them.
Raheem Sterling was born in Jamaica and they still picked the useless fucker.

umm, sorry to cause further upset to Mr Alm, but implying some players have English heritage is not only factual, but shouldn't be surprising to Mr Alm since the two nations have shared a border and DNA for centuries.

didn't owen hargraves play for england and was born in canada !

There's no need to even read the posts, just see the headline, you know when his name is mentioned that it's going to be a load of crap...he's never f##king happy. I pity the poor sods who happen to be next to him in France, he'll soon spoil the mood.
Sun Jul 03, 2016 8:12 pm
Myself like many well known fans was born in England. But blood is thicker than water and I have Welsh blood pumping through my veins. My heart my soul is Welsh as much as any. I have taken my Welsh side for as long as I can remember, my Nan and Grancha and my Dad would of never forgiven me if I had supported England.

Any 'journo' trying to pick holes like this is simply flagging themselves up to be a prick. May as well just write 'Prick' on their LinkedIn and be done with it.

You just couldn't make it up. Especially the part where Mr Alm's English friends have shown solidarity in condemning the article.

why? You can't honestly believe that all 3 goalscorers being born outside Wales (and indeed in England) is not worth a headline in the English press
I wonder if your strong views would be compromised if 3 Welsh born players scored for England in a QF.
Thought for the night

Some of the German team ain't born in Germany, if they was in our boat they would do the same.
Mon Jul 04, 2016 7:45 am
As stated the article is factually correct.
However, surely the real point is that 9 English qualified players slipped through the net to help a rival country to the semi-finals of a major tournament?
The FA and management have to be responsible for the way they allowed Ashley Williams to play for Wales whilst they turned to Cahill and Smalling and the same goes for goal scorers Vokes and HRK whilst Harry Kane drew a blank.

You can look at the England Cricket team over the years, and Rugby, many players born outside of England
I do however think in all sports, the rule should be tighter, meaning born there, or your parents, other wise it can get silly, but that's just my view.

The rules are about right IMO. After all no-one has any control over where they are born so if an option presents itself later in life where the individual has a choice then good luck to them.
I remember a player called Rob Jones who was born in Wrexham but chose to play for England so it can work the other way.

In Rugby you can qualify for a country on residency grounds after 3 years. Total joke the International Rugby Board

Michael Owen was born in Cheaster because that was the nearest maternity hospital to his north Wales home! He played for the Wales Youth team, was educated and grew up in north Wales.

Got to love the Daily Mail article about Welsh players being English, what a joke. Have a look at your rugby team! #TogetherStronger
Barnes,Sanderson,Farah,Rusedski,Lamb,Rose,Bailey,Sterling,Budd,Wiggins,Pietersen,Froome,Hargreaves, Hartley,Tuilagi, Hick, Bugner,Shaw and of course England iconic captain Terry Butcher.
None of which were born in England.
