' RYAN GIGGS: SURELY NOT? "
Ryan Giggs will end up heading for Wales as he steps in to the management world.
That's what the bookies think, anyway.
The legendary winger ended his 29 year association with Manchester United yesterday as he looks to take the reins himself elsewhere.
Cardiff City have already been installed as the favourites, with 8/1 odds with Skybet.
In second place are Swansea City at 10/1.
Giggs was heavily linked for the Liberty Stadium dug-out after Garry Monk's departure in December.
Both clubs have just recently appointed permanent managers in Paul Trollope and Francesco Guidolin and will be very confident that a new manager will not be needed anytime soon.

Just Walesonline column inches being filled I guess.
I had a quick look on Paddy Power and Cardiff were way down the list at 14/1, Salford was favourite followed by Hull.

I agree, Gav
I think there are plenty who would give him a chance but hopefully not us, as I'm beginning to warm to the prospect of a Paul Trollope led team at the CCS next season. Some pretty sound people around him, a few signings made or on the way and (it appears) the backing of the boss, too!

Salford is where he should start.
If he works his way to the top from there then full credit to him.

Not where it matters ..... as a coach or manager.
He has got Bristol Rovers promoted and to their highest round in the FA Cup (quarter finals). Experience coaching in the Premier League and internationally.
Championship level is not where you cut your teeth in your first coacuing/management role.
The greatest players do not always make the best coaches and they should all learn their trade first.
Reading FC have taken a big gamble and even Stam has had a good few more years as an assistant than Giggs

Bit stupid statement considering Giggs is the highest decorated player in British history! shame he's only managed for 4 games? Compared to trollope Giggs is a complete novice in management terms!

My feelings are the same Chris.
I think it's important we get a couple of British players in who know the league and that we get off to a good start so the fans can get behind Trollope and feel he's the right guy for us.
The last thing we want is a poor start and the negativity to hit from the off.

What's he achieved as a manager?
Sat there nodding his head when Van Gaal spoke as his assistant?

& Trollope barked instructions in a failed management set up last season
I think Giggs would be an asset to our management team but cant see it happening

On Vinnie the Red's minimalist budget? No chance at all. I'll be amazed if we spend any money on players this summer. After £21 million from the last parachute and more to come he isn't about to jump yet.

Mark Hughes walked into Wales job and has been a Premiership manager ever since and he wasn't a bad player?

Paul, the early signs are good
Sadly though, there are some on here (forgetting the Jack contingent) that appear not to want Cardiff City to do well, as it would interfere with their negative agendas

As much as Trollope is still a gamble I feel he has put together an excellent back room setup.
The new striker is again a risk but it reflects Trollope's recognition we need pace and power in the team.
Again if the reports about Anya are true that also reflects that Trollope knows we need pace and flair in midfield/wing.
Early signs are good and I think Trollope just needs to be allowed to get on with it.
