I really respect what Tosh done in his time as mgr, got rid of the older players and sacrificed personal success to blood youngsters into the team. Those players tonight are established internationals, accelerated progression by Tosh and we reap the benefit of it.

Crikey. I respected what he was trying to do with Wales but really this is ridiculous. Trying to take credit for turning Bale into an injury-free free kick specialist is a bit far. I am sure he, like many other coaches helped Bale become the player he is, but I think he's taking some liberty here

Totally agree, while Speed got us going in the right direction without a doubt it was Tosh who started it all.

I have to agree also. I get really narked when Tosh is airbrushed out. Bellamy the other day stated the changes started with Mark Hughes and then were carried on by Gary Speed and finally Chris Coleman.

In reality the changes started with Tosh who blooded many of those who have now delivered a Euro QF place.

Agree.

Hughes if anything was part of the problem, keeping the old guard together with very little interest in the U21's or bringing in youth to the squad

Tony, 'Tosh' unceremoniously booted out some of the old guard 'fixtures' in the Wales team and got battered for it on all fronts but (as you rightly say) he was the catalyst for the current crop who are now bearing the fruits he talked about!

Sadly, we'll never know how Speed might have done but his groundwork helped lay the foundations for Chris Coleman to build on and (it's now in the record books) Coleman himself will be seen as the most successful Wales manager since 1958 and most successful EVER, if his side can pull a win out of the bag versus Belgium tonight! :ayatollah:
