Gareth Bale is better than Eden Hazard... the startling admission from his own Belgium team-mate
Thursday 30th June 2016
BY ADAM JONES
The defender said that his fellow countryman is "still not consistent"
Gareth Bale is better than Eden Hazard - according to Jordan Lukaku
Jordan Lukaku has admitted that Gareth Bale is "slightly higher" than his Belgium teammate Eden Hazard ahead of their crucial game against Wales on Friday.
The Welsh star has been one of the players of Euro 2016 so far, lighting up the tournament with three goals in qualifying and creating his side's goal against Northern Ireland in the last 16.
And it seems that Belgium know who the danger-man is - with defender Lukaku claiming that Bale is in fact better than one of their own star players, Eden Hazard.
'You can tell he means it - it's not a mask!' How Gareth Bale impressed Belgian journalists with his demeanour and belief
Tell us something we don't know.
The 21-year-old, who is the younger brother of Everton's Romelu Lukaku, also said that Belgium would look at Wales as a whole team, not just one player.
"Bale is for me perhaps slightly higher than Hazard. He's been playing longer at that level," he said.
"At key moments at club level Bale is the man and he stands there, while Hazard is still not consistent.
"The staff will devise a plan to neutralise Bale and Aaron Ramsey because they are the strongest players Wales have. So we will find a way to counter them but it will not be one player, it will be the whole team."
