" UPDATED ASHLEY WILLIAMS '
' MONDAY 27TH JUNE 2016 '
Wales fans will today discover the extent of Ashley Williams' shoulder injury which has left the Wales captain facing a race against time to be fit for Friday night's Euro 2016 quarter-final match against Belgium.
Williams underwent a scan yesterday following his collision with team-mate Jonny Williams in Saturday's last 16 win over Northern Ireland.
The captain refused to leave the field despite being in obvious pain, and he was seen after match wearing heavy strapping on his shoulder.
Chris Coleman will hope he does not have a decision to make and that Williams – renown for rarely missing games – will shake off the worry to be available.
But if not Coleman seems set to put his trust in Collins who enjoyed an impressive season with West Ham.
Coleman has utilised Gunter at centre-half in the past, bringing in Jazz Richards to play on the right, but the national boss added: “I wouldn’t change the whole team round if I am honest with you. I am not giving Belgium or Hungary any clues, but if you look at how we play, we play a certain way for a reason.
“Unless something drastic happens I wouldn’t change the whole team around and I would have no worries about Ginge (Collins) coming in. He is that type of character and is experienced as well. He is certainly not lacking in confidence as a man. He would relish it.”

“Ash is a bit tender with his shoulder. The next 24 to 48 hours will be key, whether it’s bruising and just impact, or whether there’s damage to any ligaments or a tear in his muscle. Hopefully not that.
“We won’t really know until tomorrow, but he was struggling, couldn’t move his arm.
“I was going to take Ash off, had got James Collins ready to come on. But he said he was okay to continue and I trust my captain.
“I’ve no reason not to, the service he’s given Wales has been incredible.
“I’d like to keep him on pitch, keep his presence out there for us and he made one or two important blocks.
“I’m delighted for Ash. It hasn’t always been sunshine for us, he’s been a constant through everything and thoroughly deserves it.”
Ashley Williams update
An update on the condition of Ashley Williams.
It is believed that the Wales captain has had a scan this morning after suffering a should injury against Northern Ireland on Saturday.
The results of that scan are expected to come through later today.
There has also been some suggestion that Williams may have even dislocated his should during the match - but that it popped back in immediately afterwards.
Of course, we’ll be bringing you the results of the scan as soon as we get them.
