I was there for that original party - they played with the Ramones in 1978 and me and my mate hitch hiked there from South Wales aged 16 - half of the crowd were young British kids having fun and that's what the song is about. I pulled a French girl who looked a bit like Chrissy Hind and mate puled one who looked more like a be-hind. Happy Days and hope you have as much fun tonight as we did then

Yesteryear in the top rank , exploited , discharge , vice squad , impact ,...never got to see crass though.
I know they where not punk as such clung onto the mod thing but the jam had really political songs quite relevant to Thursday's vote , going underground , lyrics spot on .
