' GOOD LUCK TO CHRIS BARKER & WELL DONE TO HEREFORD FC '

I know Chris very well as he still has his home in Cardiff.
He was a Cardiff City favourite and gave his all when he played for us :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
A great move for him.

Hereford are on their way back up the non leagues, with home crowds of 4,000 and an average away support of well 600 in the lower Non leagues is amazing :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It shows how well you can do if the Club and Fans unite together :ayatollah:
Promotion and Wembley last season.

NEW SIGNING: Bulls Bring In Player Coach Barker

Ex Cardiff City player Chris Barker :ayatollah:

25th June 2016 by Jamie Griffiths -

Hereford FC are delighted to announce the arrival of former Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Aldershot Town defender Chris Barker.

Barker, who arrives following a three season spell with Aldershot, will take up a Player Coach role at Edgar Street.

The 36-year-old former Cardiff City man has made over 500 Football League appearances throughout his career which started at Barnsley in 1999. He moved to Cardiff City in 2002, winning their Player of the Year award in 2004/2005.

After making over 150 appearances for The Bluebirds, including 80 Championship matches, Barker moved to fellow Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2007 for whom he made 25 appearances.

Barker moved to Plymouth in 2008 where he played over 50 more Championship games, before moving to League 2 Southend United.

A popular figure at Roots Hall, Barker won their Player of the Season award in 2010/11, as he racked up 111 first team appearances over a three season spell.

In 2013/14 Barker moved to Aldershot Town and went on to make over 70 appearances in the Football Conference and National League. In January 2015 Sheffield-born Barker was named as Caretaker boss, taking over from Andy Scott on a temporary basis. Barker remained on as Assistant Manager to Shots boss Barry Smith until the end of the 2015/16 season.

“This is a fantastic signing for us” said Bulls boss, Pete Beadle. “Chris has a wealth of experience that could prove invaluable to our young squad. Not only is he a very talented player who can play in a number of positions across the back four, but he will also be a fantastic addition to our coaching set up.”

Definitely a nice guy. I will never forget the night a few years ago when he and Nooney (who were both playing for Plymouth Argyle at the time) took timeout to come to my son's football club to present the annual awards.

My lad was made up and I still have the photo somewhere!

Dunno why when I think of him I think of a solid to average fullback but most frustrating is that he only got fit for us after a stunt at Stoke. Total disrespect to the club initially. After Stoke loan he was very good though. Still overrpaid tho.
