Cardiff City make €350k offer for flexible attacking player


Boavista have reportedly rejected an offer from Cardiff City for Renato Santos. The Welsh club have bid €350k for the attacker, according to Record.

The newspaper says the Portuguese club’s president Álvaro Braga Júnior wants at least €1m for the player, who signed for Boavista from Rio Ave last summer for free.

Although the club didn’t accept it, the offer is said to be very attractive for the 24-year-old, who currently earns just €1.5k per month at Boavista and would have a much better salary in the Championship.

Santos, who can play on both wings and as a central striker, manager four goals and six assists in 26 games for Boavista last season.

His contract runs until 2018, and he’d almost certainly jump at the chance of a move to English football and a crack at the big time.

Always a gamble with foreign players such as this guy.

We've done well with Immers but so many have not worked out for one reason or another -Zohore, Saadi, Cornelius,Kiss, Velikonja etc etc.

I would prefer we be looking for players who have proven themselves at Championship level or above, although I accept that they would be far more expensive to recruit.

I wonder where these players are coming from? Is it our extensive scouting network throughout Europe and beyond or has Vincent been looking at Youtube and playing FIFA again?

Velikonja is a striker and this santos is a winger though so how you work that out
