Cardiff City are lining up a move for Gazélec Ajaccio centre back Roderić Filippi according to a number of sources.

Filippi, who has only ever played for Gazélec, would be back up for Sean Morrison, Matthew Connolly and Bruno Manga. The Frenchman has made 165 appearances for his club, scoring 16 goals.

Gazélec were relegated from Ligue 1 at the end of last season, finishing the season on just 37 points with only eight wins from 38 games.

The Bluebirds have been linked with many a centre half so far this transfer window, and Filippi looks as if he could hold talks with Paul Trollope, who is in France on international duty with Wales.

Trollope has said he wants to bring in another defender, but he may wait until the club decide whether they want to sell Manga before firming up any replacements.

Filippi could be part of the squad by the time the Bluebirds kick-off their pre-season campaign, which begins in less than a month as they travel to The New Lawn to face Forest Green Rovers.
