LENNON KEY IN HANLON STAY

New Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has persuaded defender Paul Hanlon to remain at Easter Road.

The out-of-contract centre-back had been attracting interest from top-flight Aberdeen but Hanlon has now signed a new three-year deal to stay with the Ladbrokes Championship outfit.

And the 26-year-old has revealed his mind was made up following talks with former Celtic boss Lennon, who was confirmed as Alan Stubbs' replacement last week.

Hanlon said: "I'm delighted to extend my stay for another three seasons. There is a real excitement following the end to the season and with Neil coming in, and I'm looking forward to getting started again.

"The fans have been brilliant with me throughout my time here, and it's great to see so many signed up for next season already.

"I'm now determined to build on our success from last season and get Hibs back to the Premiership."

Iceland captain tried to swap shirts with Cristiano Ronaldo immediately after final whistle (Video)
‘Hey Ronaldo’
Iceland captain Aron Gunnarsson could be proud of his shift in their 1-1 draw with Portugal, a result that gave them their first ever European Championship point on their tournament debut.

But rather than bask in the glory of their achievement or run immediately over to the fans, Gunnarsson sought out what he must have considered to be the ultimate memento: Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt.

‘Wanna swap?’
It took Gunnarsson a second or two to get the perma-tanned forward’s attention. When he eventually did, Ronaldo didn’t seem arsed with the request. Fuming over some perceived injustice instead of owning up to his own incompetence in front of goal on the night, he walked over to wag his finger at the officials.
