French police have placed 43 Russian supporters in custody on suspicion of being involved in the clashes in Marseille last week.

The fans had been on a coach heading to Lille, but were stopped by armed police earlier on Tuesday.

A further group of 150 Russian hooligans, known as ultras - and described by French authorities as "hyper violent" - are still feared to be at large.

Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse English and Russian fans after they clashed repeatedly in Marseille.
