Kalmar sporting director Thomas Andersson-Borstam has revealed to 24Kalmar.se that the club have received multiple offers for star man Marcus Antonsson amid suggestions that the striker could be set for a move to the UK.
Antonsson, 25, originally joined Kalmar from fellow Swedish top-flight side Halmstads in January 2015 and has since netted 25 times in 47 total appearances for the club, finishing as their top scorer last season with 12 goals.
The 6ft 1in front man has opened the 2016 Allsvenskan campaign on a tear, hitting a league-leading 10 goals in 12 games, and is now pushing for his first call-up to the Swedish national team.
What’s more, his impressive form is also said to have attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs, with FotbollDirekt.se recently reporting that Aston Villa, Leeds United and Cardiff City are all chasing the £1.2 million-rated forward's signature.
Speaking to 24Kalmar.se about the speculation, Andersson-Borstam admitted that Kalmar have received several bids for Antonsson this month and are now in talks with “a number of clubs” over a potential deal.
"There is continued interest,” he said of Antonsson, whose current contract runs until December 2018. “Yes, we have received an offer for him – from more [than one club].
"We are in talks with a number of clubs, there is intensive work now."

Antonsson’s list of suitors is also said to include Danish champions FC Copenhagen, reigning Allsvenskan winners Norrkoping and current league leaders Malmo, but FotbollDirekt.se’s report claims that the freescoring forward would favour a move outside of Scandinavia.
Which of Villa, Leeds and Cardiff would be the most appealing destination remains up for debate at this stage, but all three clubs will certainly need to add more firepower to their ranks this summer if they hope to contend for promotion.
