Money and control, Allan![]()
The Europeans don't 'want' us in reality, but they like the idea of slowly eradicating our remaining influence to the point that we become an insignificant member state who can be dictated to in a way that suppresses us to the point of relevance (and we're well on our way to that already)

To the union we bring stability, a centre right viewpoint, a direct link to the yanks and of course money. I really do believe the European people do not share their political leaders vision of a central European superstate and would like it to go back a few notches. Nothing has been able to stop this creep to the Euro superstate, so maybe the Brits leaving will stop it.
Does anyone really believe a leave vote will mean leave ? I don't, it will mean a deep think about the project and another referendum in a few years. The Dutch and Poles are looking at us very closely, if we vote leave they will shortly be following and it all crumbles. This is why the establishment are in a panic, the EU has been good for us and Europe, but its gone unchecked for too long, a leave vote is a message, "reform or die" a vote to stay says carry on, we agree with what, how and where you are going.
I am a reluctant leaver

if we leave, in short:
they lose £8bn net contributions which must be made up by the remaining nations
other nations will follow if the UK goes from strength to strength
and if the Remain camp are to believed, they lose unrestricted access to the most open market in the EU, for products and services

I see what you saying but if we contribute so much more than others from which they benefit then it's in they interest. Also in interest of the othe countries that pay a lot so more pressure not put on them.
So if they so desperate just for our money it shouldn't be a problem give us special powers. As we are a special member state. But it seems to me they not that bothered if we leave or not. They probably think we vote to remain so they get win win. I suspect there's a lot of back corridor negotiations going on as we speak. And if leave look like they going to win which is possible now one last minute concessions will be made by eu. To keep us in. If not then the answer to the thread is no they care if we leave.

It's simple if we leave it would be disastrous for the EU and distinct possibility of others doing same!
