Other than the money we shovel in.....I don't think the rest of Europe is overly keen on the British...

Of course it's the money they want as we bring stability to euro finances ! Mustn't forget our industries like fishing get screwed by them for their own ends? Basically if we left Europe be in big trouble !!! :old:

I'm not so sure. If the money was so important to them they would give us special conditions. Especially now as it looks a very close run thing.
Citizens of Europe couldn't give a f**k if we in or out. Where as they government may be more concerned that we mY leave. A lot of peoe seem to think we more important than what we are.

absolutely. they are terrified that we will leave, and with good reason. the reason they refused to give us meaningful concessions is that the whole organisation is founded on principles that they will not budge an inch for. giving the UK a special deal would result in any other country in a similar situation demanding the same.

if we leave, in short:
they lose £8bn net contributions which must be made up by the remaining nations
other nations will follow if the UK goes from strength to strength
and if the Remain camp are to believed, they lose unrestricted access to the most open market in the EU, for products and services

Two different things, the Euro elite and the normal people.

To the union we bring stability, a centre right viewpoint, a direct link to the yanks and of course money. I really do believe the European people do not share their political leaders vision of a central European superstate and would like it to go back a few notches. Nothing has been able to stop this creep to the Euro superstate, so maybe the Brits leaving will stop it.

Does anyone really believe a leave vote will mean leave ? I don't, it will mean a deep think about the project and another referendum in a few years. The Dutch and Poles are looking at us very closely, if we vote leave they will shortly be following and it all crumbles. This is why the establishment are in a panic, the EU has been good for us and Europe, but its gone unchecked for too long, a leave vote is a message, "reform or die" a vote to stay says carry on, we agree with what, how and where you are going.

I am a reluctant leaver

Money and control, Allan ;)

The Europeans don't 'want' us in reality, but they like the idea of slowly eradicating our remaining influence to the point that we become an insignificant member state who can be dictated to in a way that suppresses us to the point of relevance (and we're well on our way to that already) ;)

Heard the "in" campaign today warning that we may face a year or even two years of a shrinking economy if we leave. Big deal. This decision is not what happens over the next year or two, or even five. This is about future generations, our children and their children's future. Too many people not prepared to look beyond the next couple of years, and are afraid of change. Why stay in a group where there has been hardly any economic growth for years when there's a whole big world out there with economies that are growing rapidly, but we can't get involved with them because of EU restraints.

Yes our riches are a nice earner for 99.9% of European countries as they are nearly broke! So steal things from little old down trodden UK .

We are not the only people unhappy with the way the EU is being run, most countries have large numbers who want change. When we leave a few more will follow. The EU is a busted flush.

If we leave, more will follow when they see that businesses will still want to trade with us. Cameron keeps harping on about access to a market of 500 million. They will still be there and will still want to buying and selling their products to us. The population of the rest of the world is far more accessible now in comparrison to when we first joined, and as an example the population of China alone is something like 1,300 million. There is a whole world of potential trade out there including Europe.

I see what you saying but if we contribute so much more than others from which they benefit then it's in they interest. Also in interest of the othe countries that pay a lot so more pressure not put on them.

So if they so desperate just for our money it shouldn't be a problem give us special powers. As we are a special member state. But it seems to me they not that bothered if we leave or not. They probably think we vote to remain so they get win win. I suspect there's a lot of back corridor negotiations going on as we speak. And if leave look like they going to win which is possible now one last minute concessions will be made by eu. To keep us in. If not then the answer to the thread is no they care if we leave.

It's simple if we leave it would be disastrous for the EU and distinct possibility of others doing same! :old:

I am surprised that the 'IN' camp have not told us that Europe would like us to remain
