Three people including a French police officer have been killed after a hostage situation in a Paris suburb.
A spokesman for France’s interior minister said a police officer, his wife and their attacker had been killed after a stabbing at the officer’s home outside Paris. The spokesman, Pierre-Henry Brandet, said on Monday night that police had managed to rescue a child from the scene.
A police source said officers had responded to a hostage situation at a house in Magnanville, about 35 miles (55km) west of the
French capital.

Police said the suspect was killed, and they then found a woman dead inside the house but were able to rescue the son safely.
