Cardiff City not in the hunt for Wales' Euro 2016 hero Hal Robson-Kanu

He scored the winner against Slovakia, but is unattached after his Reading contract expired

Cardiff City are set to ignore the mood of the nation and not make a move for Wales hero Hal Robson-Kanu this summer.

The 27-year-old wrote himself into Welsh folklore this weekend when he scored the winner to give Chris Coleman’s men the dream start to their Euro campaign in France with a 2-1 win over Slovakia.

Immediately Bluebirds’ supporters took to social media to call for Robson-Kanu to be brought to the Welsh capital ahead of next season.

But despite Robson-Kanu being available on a free transfer after his contract finished at Reading and new Cardiff Head Coach, Paul Trollope, being out in France as a coach for the Welsh national side, sources at the club say the player is not amongst their list of transfer targets.

The amazing story of Wales Euro idol Hal Robson-Kanu: Without a club contract, yet a scorer of hugely significant goals
Robson-Kanu himself has said he will not be thinking about his own future until the Euros are over, but he has already been linked with a move to the Premier League with Watford and, the Bluebirds’ arch-rivals, Swansea City, both reportedly keen on him.

A striker is the number one target for Cardiff this summer after they failed to score enough goals last term in the Championship under former manager Russell Slade, but Robson-Kanu, who can also play out-wide too, is perhaps not seen as prolific enough to lead the Bluebirds’ line next season.

Despite Trollope being away with the national side, the Bluebirds’ hierarchy are already working on trying to bring the personnel they need for a top-sox push next term.

24 goals scored in 198 games for Reading, 1 scuffed shot for Wales and he's a world beater

He may be a grafter, but if I was City manager he would'nt be high up on my list of wanted players.
