' ENGLAND '

England boss Roy Hodgson will resist all calls to drop striker Harry Kane for the showdown with Wales on Thursday.

England boss Roy Hodgson will have a fully-fit squad to choose from with no injury concerns, though he faces a tough decision on whether to start Jamie Vardy.

The Leicester striker was an unused substitute in the draw against Russia, and England's lack of composure in front of goal despite a number of chances could see the 29-year-old handed the opportunity to impress.

Match Preview

Roy Hodgson's men were on course for a deserved three points against Russia on Saturday after Eric Dier's late free kick opened the scoring at Stade Velodrome, but Vasili Berezutski's stoppage-time header rescued a point for Russia to deny the Three Lions a win.

In contrast, Wales got off to a fine start in France as Hal Robson-Kanu and Gareth Bale struck for Chris Coleman's side to earn the Dragons a dramatic 2-1 win against Slovakia.

Wales XI vs Slovakia: Ward; Gunter, Chester, A Williams, Davies, Taylor; Edwards, Allen, Ramsey, Williams; Bale.

Best result: semi-finals 1968, 1996
Coach: Roy Hodgson
Leading scorers: all-time – Wayne Rooney (51); current – Wayne Rooney (51)
Most appearances: all-time – Peter Shilton (125); current – Wayne Rooney (109)
Association formed: 1863
Nickname: Three Lions
Where they play: Wembley, London

England's recent record in major tournaments could have looked very different had it not been for penalty shoot-outs. Since losing on spot kicks to West Germany in the semi-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, they have been eliminated by that method from five further tournaments – three UEFA European Championships (1996, 2004 and 2012) and two World Cups (1998, 2006). It means the 1966 World Cup triumph on home soil remains their only final appearance, although Roy Hodgson's team, group stage fallers at the 2014 World Cup, should travel to France in confident mood having qualified for UEFA EURO 2016 with ten wins out of ten.

I feel that this match will prove tougher than our match against Slovakia. On paper they should win and I'd say probably 3-1 England but that said, this Wales team keeps pulling off some remarkable results/surprises. Take nothing away from Wales at all - we are better than many people thinks we are. Are we gonna be the Leicester city of the euros? Win this next match and OMG! We are a real force to be reckoned with, draw this and that would be a great result still, loosing could be expected but it's not game over even if we do that. This match is massive though in terms of the fact it's England for a start, the significance of a win or draw and the fact we could edge nearer to making more history for Wales FC!

Head - 3-1 England

Heart - 1-1 or 2-1 Wales

Wales midfielder Dave Edwards seeking revenge on old tenant Joe Hart
By LAURIE WHITWELL FOR THE DAILY MAIL
PUBLISHED: 22:51, 13 June 2016 | UPDATED: 22:51, 13 June 2016

Joe Hart may be an expert in organising a defence but Wales midfielder Dave Edwards can remember a time when the England goalkeeper would leave his room a mess.
Edwards was Hart’s landlord during their days together at Shrewsbury Town and the two have remained good friends. Their careers have taken different paths but interchanged at various points and will do so again in Lens on Thursday when the Home Nations collide.
Edwards, the Wolves player, is eager to start his second game at Euro 2016 having scored past the Manchester City No 1 at Molineux six years ago.

He would look to create as much disorder in England’s box as once was the case in their shared house.
‘We lived in a little two-bed terrace which was my first home in Shrewsbury,’ said Edwards. ‘He rented a room off me. I was 18, 19 when we lived together for just over a year until he signed for Man City. He was a messy housemate.

Joe Ledley has revealed how early morning trips to an oxygen chamber saved his Euro 2016 dream.

Ledley suffered a fractured leg playing for Crystal Palace on May 7 and admitted he shed a tear when he felt his hopes of playing in France were over.

But Ledley made a remarkable recovery to play for Wales just five weeks later, coming off the bench in the 2-1 victory over Slovakia and starting the move which led to Hal Robson-Kanu’s winner.
