' Chris Coleman '

I'm so pleased for Coleman. He went into this tournament knowing his team had only won once in seven matches and amid claims they were under-prepared after being battered 3-0 in Sweden.

But when Wales landed in France, Coleman held a team meeting and spelt out the need for the players to remember what had got them into these finals in the first place.

Hard work, defensive resolve and a solid base from which Gareth Bale could score goals to win matches.

Heeding the words of their manager, Wales went back to basics against Slovakia.

Coleman said the right thing at the right time. It was excellent management because it worked.

Colemans subs won the game. They changed how we played and wrestled the momentum back from Slovakia. Robson Kanu stretched them and Ledley provided a more solid centre where the mohicans had been running amok. Never been a big Coleman fan, always felt he was lucky to have such a talented squad but he did the right thing at the right time yesterday and it turned the game for us.

Let's not forget, previous managers have also had the use of Bale, Ramsey, Allen et al and the results have not exactly been encouraging. Going further back we had, arguably, an even bigger global superstar in Ryan Giggs who played alongside Man United and Barcelona's striker Mark Hughes, Ian Rush, Craig Bellamy, John Hartson, Gary Speed, Neville Southall. The names are endless.

Nobody had the ability to bring the squad and play as a team. Gary Speed managed it towards the end of his tenure and Mark Hughes managed to do it somewhat, but ultimately failing. Coleman has brought this team which was in turmoil mentally, instilled a natuaral captain into the side, and shaped them into a defensive counter attacking unit that has a togetherness like no other side Ive ever seen. Nobody with any common sense can say we are a one man team and this is due to the way our defence and dogged system set the platform for us to win the matches. We are now the first British side to win their opening Euro Champs group game and looking a great bet ti qualify to the knockout stages - and we did it in some fashion.

What Coleman has done has eclipsed them all.

So was Speed. And so will whoever comes after Coleman.
