Marcus Antonsson has enjoyed a stellar season for FF Kalmar, scoring 10 goals in his 12 appearances so far

Cardiff City will challenge Leeds United and Aston Villa for the signing of Marcus Antonsson, according to reports in Sweden.

The striker has enjoyed a stellar season for FF Kalmar, scoring 10 goals in his 12 appearances.

Last year, he scored 12 in 28 as his reputation blossomed.

And Fotbolldirekt.se claim that he will now turn down Swedish giants Malmo in favour of a move abroad.

His agent said there were discussions taking place with numerous foreign clubs, but did not reveal who. He would reportedly cost somewhere in the region of €1.5 million.

Antonsson is 25-years-old and 6ft tall.

His contract at Kalmar runs to 2018.

Sounds good but when you see Villa mentioned and this report is true you think of them as favourites to sign him :bluebird:

I'm not so sure I think Villa could struggle for years and how they lasted so long in the Premier league is beyond me.

If City can make a statement signing like this then I would be very pleased :)
