Sources at Cardiff City have denied reports they are interested in signing striker Anthony Stokes.

The 27-year-old has been released by Celtic and is available this summer on a free transfer, the suggestion is a host of Championship clubs are keen on the payer, but the Bluebirds insist they are not amongst them.

Stokes spent last season on lan at Hibs where he fired nine goals in 25 appearances. Stokes signed for Celtic in 2010 and made 192 appearances for the Glasgow club, scoring 77 goals.

Cardiff Head Coach Paul Trollope is keen to add to his firepower ahead of next season, but there will be no move for Stokes it seems.

very over rated player and on the downward spiral if you ask me.. what a flash in the pan player and I cant understand why we are constantly linked with this guy. This is an intention hopefully that Trollope doesn't want the same players as Big Russ

This guy has got talent in spades. He just needs somone with good man management skills.
I think he has learn't his lesson after being sent out on loan and realises wherever he goes next, will be his last chance at proving that he can play at a high level.
