DE GEA: NO REAL CONTACT
Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea says he has not received any contact from Real Madrid this summer and insists he was not disappointed by his failure to move to the Bernabeu last year.
De Gea’s anticipated move to Real broke down on the last day of the 2015 summer transfer window, with United subsequently reacting by tying him down to a new long-term contract.
The 'keeper produced another magnificent campaign in 2015/16 and reports in Spain have suggested Madrid will look to make another move for the player.
However, when discussing staying at United on Spanish radio show El Larguero, De Gea said: “I did not know anything, but that does not worry me now. I have three more years [on my contract] in Manchester, at a club that has given me everything. In addition, I am not thinking about anything apart from the national team.
“No-one from Real has called me, I am already used to the [newspaper] front pages but now I am focused on the national team. The European Championship starts and I cannot think about anything else.”
De Gea was also asked if he was disenchanted after his failed transfer to Madrid last summer and replied: “No. I am at a very big club, one that gives me great affection each day. I am very grateful to United, it’s a very big club and I am happy there.”
