From Man UtdU18s to the England squad, but it all could have been so different for man of the moment Marcus Rashford.
Rashford was the subject of a loan move from Sky Bet League One side Crewe Alexandraa week before he made his Man Utd debut, claims Crewe first-team coach James Collins.
Collins said: “I spoke to Warren Joyce [United U21 coach] earlier in the season about taking him on loan.
“Warren said we couldn’t because they needed him for their U21s. A week later he made his debut for the first team and the rest is history.”
Rashford made his United debut in the Europa League against FC Midtjylland, scoring twice.

Manchester United will wait until July to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic because of a £4m loyalty bonus he will receive if he stays until the end of his contract.
Jamie Vardy is set to snub a move to Arsenal and stay with Leicester City, where he will also sign a new deal.
Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing Nuri Sahin back to Liverpool from Borussia Dortmund. Sahin failed to impress in a loan spell at Anfield in 2012-13.

Liverpool have held talks with Leeds defender Charlie Taylor over a summer move to Anfield.
Chelsea are unlikely to make a summer move for Germany defender Antonio Rudiger after he injured knee ligaments. Rudiger, who recently joined Roma after a successful loan spell, is likely to be out for six months.
Middlesbrough have reportedly passed on the chance to sign Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.
Tottenham are in talks to sign Palermo striker Franco Vazquez, although the £19.5m-rated player is also a target for Manchester United.
Antonio Conte will not be offering Brazil striker Alexandre Pato a permanent deal at Chelsea.
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has emerged as a summer target for Athletic Bilbao.

Neil Lennon has been confirmed as the new manager of Hibernian after signing a two-year deal.
The 44-year-old former Celtic boss will be assisted by Garry Parker at Easter Road.
The Northern Irishman has been out of work since parting company with Bolton in March.
He succeeds Alan Stubbs, who left for Rotherham United last week after two seasons in charge, culminating in a Scottish Cup final triumph.

CHELSEA TO JOIN BATSHUAYI RACE?
Chelsea are considering a move into the race for £31million Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Belgium striker has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham, while Spurs have also reportedly been interested.
Batshuayi, 22, scored 24 goals in all competitions for Marseille last term.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will be able to sign players from his former club Bayern Munich, contrary to claims from Douglas Costa.

NO CLUB DISTRACTIONS FOR ROBSON-KANU
Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu has shelved talks over his club future to focus on Euro 2016.
Robson-Kanu is available on a free transfer this summer and says he has spoken to Premier League clubs after ending his 12-year association with Reading.
But the 27-year-old - who expects to be fit for Wales' Euro 2016 opener against Slovakia after suffering a leg injury - says he will not be distracted by club matters over the next few weeks.
"It's a difficult position going into a major tournament," said Robson-Kanu.
"But I just want to focus on playing well and performing.
"I've put negotiations on hold with various clubs to kick on well in the tournament."

CROUCH CONSIDERS COACHING ROLE
Peter Crouch admits he is considering a coaching career once he retires as a player.
The Stoke striker, who is sitting his UEFA B coaching exams at the Welsh FA's course, says he always assumed he would work in the media once he quit playing.
But the 35-year-old is reconsidering those plans after his experience in Newport.
"Being a coach or manager? You never know," he said. "I've done little bits and pieces in the media but this is my first taste of coaching and I've really enjoyed it.
"I had been thinking of doing more media work when I retire but this course has made me have a re-think. It's opened my eyes a little bit.
"When you just go to training every day, you just worry about being a player. This is totally different, but I've learnt a lot."

WEST BROM WOULD 'LOVE' TO KEEP BERAHINO
West Brom technical director Nick Hammond says the Baggies would "love" to keep striker Saido Berahino at the Hawthorns this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing the England international - who is contracted to West Brom until the end of June 2017 - for some time now.
“I’ve had conversations with him and have been very impressed with him as an individual,” Hammond told the Express & Star.
“I like him a lot and think he’s a top player. I told him clearly I’d love him to be at the football club next season.
“He’s a very talented individual, he’s a good age, he’s a home-grown academy player.
“He’s the type of player I’d love to be here next year.”

Real Madrid are the 5/2 favourites with Sky Bet to sign Paul Pogba this summer. Manchester United can be backed at 3/1 and Chelsea are on offer at 7/2. The midfielder is priced up at 3/1 to remain with Juventus for the new season.

Newcastle are prioritising the signing of a striker this summer, but Spanish youngster Nano is not believed to be under consideration.
Rafael Benitez has not decided whether Adam Armstrong will be part of the Newcastle first-team next season, but Coventry City are ready to welcome the striker back with "open arms" if Benitez sanctions another loan move.

BOLTON NEAR PARKINSON DEAL
Bolton have agreed a compensation package with Bradford for manager Phil Parkinson, according to Sky sources.
Both League One clubs have been involved in discussions and have now agreed a fee, with Parkinson set to hold a news conference at Bolton tomorrow.
