OT - Aircon re gas.

Mon Jun 06, 2016 1:36 pm

Does anyone know anywhere that's doing a deal on this. Most places charge about £50 but I got my van done at a garage in London for £25. Can't find anywhere that cheap around Cardiff area.

Hi Mate,

I know a place that was doing it for £25 a few months ago on Portmanmoor Rd Splott (Can't remember the name). Not 100% sure if they still are but worth a look. Hope this helps

I heard quickfit do a kind of 'summer service' which involves this and suppose to be cheap. Just what a friend told me as I need mine done but I haven't checked...

This may sound a stupid question and probably more suited to a Google search but what benefit is there from doing this to your air con? I've had my car for a year nearly and use the climate control/air con but is it something that needs doing?

You only need it done when your air con stops being effective (just starts blowing air at the same temperature as it is outside). Apparently the gas declines at about 10% a year and it gets to a point where it can no longer do the refrigeration job needed.

Hope this helps.
