RETAIN DAVID MARSHALL

Another player Cardiff must endeavour to keep a hold of is Scotland international David Marshall.

The ‘keeper is one of the best in the second tier and made 40 appearances for Cardiff last season. The stalwart ‘keeper has made over 250 appearances for the Welsh side and is firmly in the driving seat for another successful season.

To let him go would not be disastrous, but it would add further pressure to find a ‘keeper who is just as good as the former Celtic player.

If he asks to leave then the club should let him go.....He is too good for the championship and we are holding him back there is no reason why he can't play for teams like Liverpool or Everton.

he's not good enough for everton, and i would be very surprised if he goes there. his level is probably about west brom at the moment, and even then, they may decide foster is more suited to their needs.

at PL level, marshall always had a mistake in him. its very easy to look good in a poor defence where you are making multiple saves per game, anyone who watches MOTD and sees a player making 20 saves seems to think that makes a top keeper. he is a high quality player for the level we are at, but the PL is ruthless and its a different kettle of fish being a keeper for a top team.

all the keepers at that level make the sort of saves marshall makes. the differentiating qualities are the lack of mistakes, and aerial ability. marshall is iffy on both.

Rangers maybe?

They're looking to rebuild and have a few quid, granted not £5m though.

If we can get 4 or 5m for him it's a good deal for us to reinvest and whoever buys him have got a good keeper.

Marshall is simply a world class keeper and more than capable of being any teams first choice in the PL as we saw in our season there. I can't understand how anyone can find flaws in his game and I say that as someone who has experience of GK coaching at an elite level.

Is his distribution up there with the top PL keepers? Those guys can throw it on someone's foot as far as the half way line!

He'd be a very brave man if he moved to the blue side of Glasgow!
