UNITED HOLD BAILLY TALKS

We kick things off this Sunday morning with a look back at a story we broke yesterday, and Manchester United are in talks with Villarreal over their defender Eric Bailly.

Sky sources understand United are not the only club trying to sign the Ivory Coast international, with Manchester City, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain all also in talks with the La Liga club.

Bailly is not believed to have a release clause in his contract, which means all four clubs are essentially in a bidding war for the player.

That has driven his transfer fee towards the region of £30m, with all four clubs are also competing to offer the best financial package to the player.

KOEMAN REPORTS 'PREMATURE'

Ronald Koeman’s agent Rob Jansen has told Sky Sports News HQ that his client is yet to reach an agreement over the vacant manager’s position at Everton.

The current Southampton boss has been tipped to succeed Roberto Martinez in the Goodison Park hot-seat, with reports on Sunday claiming the Dutchman had agreed terms with the Toffees.

Jansen has revealed quotes attributed to him in the Dutch press “went too far” and that is was premature to say that a deal had been reached.

We understand the major stumbling block for Everton concerns reaching a compensation package between and £3m and £4m for Koeman which, once agreed, will open the door for contract negotiations to take place.

DE GEA DOUBTS MADRID MOVE

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea does not feel Real Madrid will activate his €50m buyout clause before it expires this month, reports AS.

De Gea signed a new deal at United shortly after his planned move to Madrid fell through last summer. That contract renewal includes a clause which allows the Bernabeu giants to secure his services for a fee of €50m before June 15.

However, De Gea does not believe that Madrid will utilise that clause. No-one from Real Madrid has contacted the goalkeeper or his agent Jorge Mendes to inform them of their desire to sign him.

According to AS, Madrid president Florentino Perez remains keen on signing De Gea this summer, but coach Zinedine Zidane has already informed the club that he wants to keep Keylor Navas as his side’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Zidane has reportedly informed the Costa Rica international that he will remain at the club.

GREALISH TO COVER AFELLAY?

Stoke manager Mark Hughes is weighing up a move for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish, who could provide cover for the injured Ibrahim Afellay.

The Sun claim the England youngster could make the short switch from Villa Park to the Potteries after Netherlands international Afellay ruptured knee ligaments, ruling him out until Christmas.

With uncertainty surrounding Marko Arnautovic’s future at Stoke, Grealish could be handed a route back into the Premier League following Villa’s relegation.

SAKHO WANTS FUTURE RESOLVED

West Ham striker Diafra Sakho wants a swift resolution on his future, Sky sources understand.

On Friday, 26-year-old Sakho, who scored seven goals for the Hammers last season, was the subject of an £11m bid from Sunderland.

Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce knows Sakho well, having signed the player during his time as West Ham boss from French side Metz in the summer of 2014.

Sources close to the player have told Sky Sports News HQ that Sakho is looking for clarity regarding his future, adding the player would like to start pre-season with the club he will be playing for next season.

The Senegal international scored 12 goals in his first season, finishing as the club's top goal scorer.

ARSENAL FINALLY SPENDING BIG?

Remarkably, were he to complete his muted move from Leicester to the Emirates, Jamie Vardy could become only Arsenal's fourth signing over £20m since they last won the Premier League title in 2004.

In comparison, Man City have made 18 signings over £20m since Arsenal were last champions, while Chelsea have signed 16 and both Man Utd and Liverpool have signed 12.

FOXES TO MAKE VARDY OFFER

Leicester City hope to convince Jamie Vardy to stay and are planning a counter-offer in the next 24 hours, reports the Daily Telegraph.

But Arsenal reportedly believe the striker has made up his mind and a £20m deal will be completed before England’s opening Euro 2016 game against Russia on Saturday.

After France’s 3-0 win over Scotland last night, Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud revealed he’s been told Vardy wants to join the Gunners.

Sky sources understand talks between the Leicester forward and Arsenal are ongoing after the Gunners triggered a release clause in his contract with a £20m bid.
