Muhammad Ali has died at the age of 74

The former world heavyweight boxing champion, one of the world's best-known sportsmen, died at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, after being admitted on Thursday.

He was suffering from a respiratory illness, a condition that was complicated by Parkinson's disease.

The funeral will take place in Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, his family said in a statement.

Terrible news. I'm no boxing fan and know very little about the sport. But I have read about Muhammed Ali in the past and he was more than just a boxer - more than just a sportsman. One that really will never be forgotten.

It was sad to see the state of his health when he carried the Olympic flag four years ago, not the man everybody knew. But that is what Parkinson's disease does unfortunately.

Condolences to all his family, RIP.

Not a big boxing fan, however there isn’t no denying Ali changed the sport, apparently has had a lot of shit throughout his life with woman and his family, tarnished his reputation, personally I think he would have got murdered by the likes of Tyson and Lewis.

Although I detest boxing and was uncomfortable with Ali's political views there is no doubt that the world has lost a true sporting icon today

I can remember geting up at 4am to watch him box Liston when i was 10years old back in the 60s.
