He's Honoured and Not Worried / BUT MAKES HIMSELF AN IDIOT

Gary Monk today said "So honoured to be part of @LUFC. Ready to fight to take this historic club & its fans back to where they belong"

GARY MONK NOT WORRIED BY SACK THREAT

Thursday 2nd June 2016

Garry Monk has brushed off concerns about owner Massimo Cellino's record of sacking Leeds United managers.

Controversial Italian owner Cellino has been through seven different managers since buying Leeds in 2014, with Monk the eighth after Steve Evans' seven-month spell was ended earlier this week.

Speaking in his first press conference since taking over, Monk said: "(The short shelf-life for Leeds managers) is not my focus.

"My focus is on the football, on the players here, and what we need to do; putting a plan in place to work on from the first day of pre-season.
"Whatever happens, it's results that decide any manager's fate. No one will expect more from me than myself. You can't win every week but you have to put in consistent, exiting performances and a way of working, and get everyone on board. That's my job."

Didn't Steve Evans say something similar before he was hired?... Even there managers think their club is rotten. Leeds are a joke

i can only deduce monk was desperate to return to football, whatever the club. with the continuing influx of foreign managers, good british managers are getting squeezed out of so many jobs (even average lower mid table jobs now - everton, watford, swansea etc) - that traditionally would have gone to british managers. as most will not work abroad it means they are taking jobs that managers of that experience and calibre would not take 10 years ago.

monk did a good job but now finds himself at a club where the likelihood is he will be lucky to survive the season unless he gets off to a flier and stays near the top.
