Former Cardiff manager Russell Slade is set to become Charlton's new manager once he has returned from holiday

Russells expected to be names Charlton manager when he returns from holiday.

Think thats good news for us and Trollope not having him above him.

Wonder if it makes space also for the return of Lennie?

Former Cardiff manager Russell Slade is set to become Charlton's new manager once he has returned from holiday, according to reports.

Wednesday 01st June 2016

The 55-year-old has moved to 2/5 favourite in the betting odds and has pulled ahead of Charlton midfielder Johnnie Jackson, who was tipped to become the new Valley boss over the weekend.

The former PE teacher-turned football manager was moved upstairs at Cardiff after failing to reach the Championship play-offs this season.

The Englishman has vast experience in League One after spells at clubs like Leyton Orient, Yeovil and Leyton Orient.

He is said to be keen on a managerial role rather than his new head of football position at the Bluebirds.

Having worked with Vincent Tan, Slade is no stranger to working with controversial owners – something that may come in handy if he moves to south London.

Midfielder Jackson was touted as a possible contender for the job after a six year spell with the Addicks.
