" Russell Slade Should Be Respected "

Russell Slade should be Respected for at least his excellent home record last season at the Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City lost only one of their last 19 home games (0-2 v Leeds in March) last season an excellent home record that should be respected

I think he earned everyone's respect by the end of his reign working in difficult circumstances

Most supporters actually liked the guy as a genuine hardworking honest manager

Problem was he was never going to get us promoted and the way we virtually capitulated over the last few weeks of the season Sumed up his reign reasonable but nowhere near good enough

I respect anybody who wants to be a football manager, however I don't respect the people who run our club who installed a manager completely out of his depth at Championship level,I just hope and pray that they have not done the same with regards to Trollope

How was he (quote) "out of his depth" in The Championship????

He finished 8th (albeit disappointingly in the end) when most had him struggling to beat relegation!

He moved the club forward and has to be respected for that. The abuse he got from some members of this board was way over the top, and some of the abuse away from this board has been worse.

He has now proved himself an able Championship manager. Thank you Russell and good luck. :bluescarf:

slade's biggest problem was that he has spent his career in the lower leagues, simple as that. many fans just want a name, and most refused to ever give him a chance. he had a good start, and as soon as hit a poor patch the knives were sharpened.

coupled with that was the budget being cut back. it is very difficult to keep a team competitive when you are expected to compete when signing players at a price level that means that inevitably some will fail.

under the circumstances, he did a fantastic job.

Another instance where people simply don't read a posting before replying,if you had read my post you would have read my criticism was for the people who runs the club as for Slade being out of his depth it's a personal opinion which hopefully I'm allowed to have

Unbelievable! Slade came in, no-one wanted him, he wiped out the huge wage bill, got us near invincible at home and got us to a decent 8th place. Pre-season everyone thought we'd be bottom half.
What was there to moan about?
Im no fan of his but he worked miracles given the circumstances.
