FIVE realistic free signings for Trollope to target
By Jamie Kemble

Clubs across all levels of English football have been publishing their retain lists during the last few weeks with some big names released but who would suit Cardiff City?
Just weeks remain until pre-season gets under way and it’s around this time in the summer when we find out which players get released by clubs across the leagues.
Cardiff have secured the services of some top quality players from the free market down the years, mainly thanks to the help of Dave Jones who operated efficiently in the ‘free market’ and with Cardiff still undertaking budget cuts, new Head Coach Paul Trollope may need to take inspiration from the former manager.
The options are almost unlimited but we’ve chosen five of the most likely free targets for new Cardiff City boss Paul Trollope;
Alejandro Faurlin
Faurlin was released by QPR after seven years at the club but the long-serving midfielder is still only 29 and still possesses a lot of quality. Known for his fantastic technique and composure, Faurlin would add class to any midfield despite a portfolio of recent serious injuries.
Kelvin Wilson
Already linked with the Bluebirds, Wilson is a very solid central-defender and a terrific option with no fee required to acquire his services. Cardiff could be forced to say goodbye to key defender Bruno Ecuele-Manga this summer so this could be great option to retain some quality while reserving the cash to spend elsewhere.
Chris Burke
The former Bluebird isn’t the athlete he once was but still offers real quality from wide positions with his pace and trickery, as he proved just months ago against the Bluebirds for Rotherham. This isn’t a likely option but Burke could certainly add something from off the bench and on top of that, he knows the club inside out.
Mirco Antenucci
The Italian netted twice against Cardiff just over a month ago and could provide missing goals for Trollope and without a fee. Antenucci is a passionate player who has the ability to give any defender nightmares, the type of player who wouldn’t go a miss in at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Darron Gibson
The Irish international fell out of favour at Goodison Park after a serious injury but he would certainly be a great addition to any Championship midfield. There will be competition for Gibson’s signature but if Cardiff can guarantee him regular football then they have a real chance winning the battle.

Ken Choo said we need players with pace who can play a pressing game, none of these guys fall into that bracket.
