BOSSES are being urged to give football fans the afternoon off to watch next month’s Euro 2016 clash between England and Wales.
Monday 30th May 2016
The Group B match between the two home nations in Lens kicks off at 2pm on June 16 – with millions of workers expected to be distracted in the office or skive off so they can cheer their sides on.
Labour MP Michael Dugher is leading the drive for a freebie half-day, telling The Sun: “I’m calling on Britain’s generous employers to give hard-working football fans the afternoon off where possible.
“The great sporting spectacle of two home nations like England and Wales meeting in a major tournament does not come around very often.”
The match is England’s only early kick-off in the tournament, with games against Russia and Slovakia both scheduled for 8pm.
Wales have a 5pm kick-off against Slovakia and an 8pm start against Russia.
