During that era, there was no meet-ups as such. So when it went off at breakfast time outside central station, there was around 30 odd Man Utd who had travelled over night and around 20 city (mainly Rhondda boys). The trouble occurred on the road by the old Empire pool and bus station. Later on, more kick-offs down by Queen Street at around 10ish, I saw a coupe of Utd fans done over badly. United fans generally hung around by the station and wrecked the pub they were drinking in
on the corner, (can't remember the name). On their way to the ground was when a lot of ambushes took place and many United fans were totally shook-up by the time they made it to Ninian, mainly because of the scale of the Cardiff turnout and violence.
The Grange end was rocking and easily that day I'd say there was 5,000 Cardiff up for it and many guys came down just for a fight and never bothered showing up again

I got hit with a coin thrown from the Bob bank -and it landed right on the top of my
head. Stung like bloody hell. Coins and stuff were thrown throughout the game and most in the Grange that day didn't watch the game
After the match, Utds Cockney reds were caught on Sloper Road, they tried to put up a show, but City were relentless and chased around a thousand of them back to the station. Quite a few them were caught or fell over. It was a cauldron for them and I was glad I was a city fan that day.
