WEMBLEY STADIUM TO HOST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEXT SEASON

Sat May 28, 2016 8:19 am

Tottenham Hotspurs Champions league 'home' games next season will be played at Wembley Stadium to comply with UEFA regulations while White Hart Lane is undergoing revamp works.

The following season, 2017/18 season, will see Spurs play all of the home league and cup matches at Wembley also.

The Champions League Final will be played in Cardiff's Millenium Stadium next season.

I think Arsenal did this at the old Wembley and it didn't work out?

For Spurs it's probably the only option. They're not going to share with Arsenal, I don't think both clubs would agree on that with there being so many games these days. They wanted the Olympic Stadium before West Ham got it, and that's obviously not an option anymore.

Will be interesting to see how they get on there and whether they can create the sort of atmosphere they'd get at White Hart Lane for those European nights next season - personally, I doubt it.

But what they can do is get big numbers in due to the fact that the stadium holds 90,000 - could even offer reduced tickets to get the stadium full.
