JOSE HAS LEARNT HIS LESSON'

Jose Mourinho will have learnt from the mistakes he made during his second spell at Chelsea, according to former England U21 manager Peter Taylor.

Sky sources understand Mourinho is set to replace Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager, with his agent Jorge Mendes due to fly into Manchester on Tuesday for talks.

"I think even the Special One would learn from his last club and last situation," he told SSN HQ.

"It's obvious he upset a few too many star players there. I think a lot of the Chelsea players were to blame.

"In the end the Chelsea management decided to change the management and not all the players. The players are very powerful these days and you have to keep in with them."

NEVILLE: NO VALENCIA DECISION MADE

Valencia assistant coach Phil Neville says he should find out if he will still be at the La Liga club next season within the next week.

The former Man Utd defender moved to Mestalla last summer to become Nuno's right-hand man, before the latter was sacked and replaced by Phil's brother Gary.

However, Neville stayed on at Los Che to assist new boss Pako Ayestaran as the club finished 12th in the table and the Englishman says he is keen to stay in his role next season.

"We are still in training until Friday and Paco’s contract finishes on May 30, no decision has yet been made by the club," he told Sky Sports.

"After what we have been through this season, the club is taking its time.

"They have got to find the right man – whether that is Paco or somebody else – but a new manager brings in his own staff, so my position will not be found out for another week.

"The intention is for me to stay. I have loved it, my family love it and I want to continue the journey I am on."

Andre Ayew (Swansea)

What Ayew himself has said...

Fair to say these quotes didn’t instil much confidence that he’ll still be around at the start of next season.

I feel good at Swansea. I count on staying in England.
It is a tough league, but it is the best.
Do I dream about going to a bigger club? At one moment or another, every player dreams about that, like I had at Marseille, when we played in the Champions League. So yes, at one moment or another, I will go after that.
There are clubs that are interested.

Ayew linked with Chelsea

He’s been linked with plenty of clubs this summer, so little surprise that fallen champions Chelsea are said to be in the mix.

It looks set to be a big summer of change at Stamford Bridge as Antonio Conte looks to make his mark on the squad.

Brighton are releasing two battle-hardened veterans:

Gordon Greer.
Bobby Zamora.

23/05/16

Brighton captain Gordon Greer and striker Bobby Zamora are among five players released by the club following their Championship play-off defeat.

Greer, 35, played 234 times for the club, while Zamora, also 35, scored seven goals in 26 games this season.

Adam Chicksen, Inigo Calderon and Andrew Crofts will also leave the Amex when their deals expire this summer.

Right-back Bruno has agreed a one-year deal, while contracts have been offered to Casper Ankergren and Niki Maenpaa.

Calderon, 34, was the Sussex club's longest-serving current player, having scored 19 goals in 232 appearances since his debut in January 2010, while Greer moved to Brighton in the summer of that year and helped the club win the League One title in 2010-11.

Former England international Zamora re-signed for the club last summer, having previously scored 83 goals for the club between 2000 and 2003.

Left-back Chicksen, 24, and midfielder Crofts, 31, spent time away from the Amex Stadium on loan this season.

Brighton finished third in the Championship table, and only missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League on goal difference.

Chris Hughton's side were then beaten 3-1 on aggregate by Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-finals, suffering their third play-off defeat in four seasons.

"It never gets any easier to make these decisions, or to deliver the news to players - particularly on the back of such a good season," Hughton said.

COLEMAN 'HONOURED'

Chris Coleman has said he was 'honoured' to sign a new two-year deal that will see him stay as Wales manager through to the 2018 World Cup.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "I am delighted that we have reached an agreement and I have the honour of leading my country in another campaign.

"I look on it as an opportunity to improve on my first campaign [World Cup 2014 qualifying] which wasn't a successful one. We have got it all to look forward to but we have to build on what we have achieved so far. It's a big challenge but it's one that we can conquer, that's for sure."
