Russell Slade has emerged as a shock late candidate for the vacant manager’s job at Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Neil Redfearn and Russell Slade are understood to be two names on Blackburn’s shortlist to replace Paul Lambert.

A member of the Venky’s is to fly over to Lancashire from Pune, with the club set to realign their business model.

Lambert took the Ewood Park job on the proviso he would be afforded funds this summer before resigning in April.
It is thought the new boss will be asked to blood youngsters from their academy working within a new financial framework.

Russell Slade was appointed Cardiff’s head of football earlier this month after being moved from his post as boss.

Redfearn, meanwhile, has been out of work since February when he was sacked by Rotherham.
But his experience at bringing academy products through could appeal to Blackburn, who will work under a strict budget next season.

I'm not sure if this is so shocking, he wasn't Malky, but he did a solid job under very difficult circumstances.

If I were him I'd stick with my non-job @ CCFC. He did well to last 18 months here I doubt it will be anything like that at basket case Blackburn.

However, if he does go then good luck :ayatollah:

If they're looking to bring academy players through then Slade certainly isn't the man they are looking for!

Really couldn't care less, have never not related to a manager ever. Be pleased to get him away from the club.

And Doyle so he can loan him back out.

He shouldn't be looking to manage if he has taken a job with us, would show a lack of respect to us and Tan, u guess we would ask a fee for him.

Compensation, not unusual if they want someone under contract.
