CARDIFF PLANNING REBUILD
20/05/16
Cardiff City boss Paul Trollope is ready to conduct a massive shake-up of the Bluebirds squad by shedding up to a dozen players and bringing in three quality newcomers for the 2016-17 campaign.
Trollope will have to work on names with the Bluebirds’ board before heading off in Wales Euro 2016 duty shortly, where he will be a key member of Chris Coleman’s backroom team in France.
Cardiff believe they already have in place the nucleus of a side who can challenge for promotion next season, but want three new kingpins to drive them over the line.

RANGERS WAIT ON BARTON
Joey Barton continues to mull over whether he'll join Rangers this summer after being offered the chance to join the newly-promoted Scottish Championship winners.
The out-of-contract Burnley midfielder spent last weekend in Glasgow talking to the Ibrox side - but manager Mark Warburton insists he's not their only option.
Warburton said: "Joey obviously came up and we had good quality time with him. A player of his quality will have many suitors and it's a big decision for any player to move to Glasgow.
"He wants to take his time, quite rightly. He's a very astute individual and hopefully we can push it forward but if not, we have to move on.
"Joey's one of many players we're looking at. Our job is to sell the club and if we can attract the right players at the right time, all well and good."

Allardyce has been thwarted in previous attempts to sign Ayew but reports claim the Swans could be willing to cash in this summer to free up a chunk of the wage bill, while letting Gomis leave could free up additional funds for Francesco Guidolin during his first summer in charge.

NEW POOL FOR PALACE?
Crystal Palace could attract a different calibre of player if they can win the FA Cup, says former captain Geoff Thomas.
Palace take on Manchester United at Wembley and will qualify for the Europa League if they triumph.
Thomas, who played at Selhurst Park between 1987 and 1993, believes European status would help Pardew take Palace to a new level next term.
"It would give Palace European football and that will give Alan Pardew scope to get a different kind of player," he said.
"Leicester have proved it's not all about names. It's about a squad of players wiling to work hard together but European football definitely allows him to go into a different pool of players.
"We've seen in the past sides have got into Europe and struggled because of the extra games but with the money now squads can be big enough that clubs should be able to cope. I think Palace would embrace the experience."

New Villa owner looking to re-name Villa Park
He's only been there five minutes and is looking to adorn the stadium with the name of his health food business and will then try to appease fans by promising lots of money for new players.
New Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Jiantong Xia is considering plans to rebrand Villa Park upon completion of his takeover of the club, according to a report in the Beijing Times.
The Chinese businessman, 39, this week bought Villa from American Randy Lerner, who had been looking to sell since 2014.
As part of the drive to try to get Villa promoted back to the Premier League as soon as possible, Xia is considering changing the name of the Villa Park - the club's home since 1897 - possibly to incorporate his health food business.
He told the Beijing Times: "One of the things we have thought about is using the Lotus Health name to rebrand Villa Park.
"Villa Park is a very historical stadium, so we will not simply and callously destroy a club's history.
"We want to use Villa's history and its' substantial fan base around the world to also promote Lotus Health products and services globally.
"The ideal scenario would be for fans to enjoy Lotus Health products at Lotus Villa Park, it would be a great advert for both brands."
Any such change to the name of Villa Park could run the risk of angering supporters and the report also claims that Xia will try to get fans on side by promising major investment in the transfer market.

Manchester City will reportedly have to trigger Aymeric Laporte's £39.6m release clause if they want to sign him from Athletic Bilbao.
The Manchester Evening News say the defender has been determined not to push for a move, and have these quotes from Athletic president Josu Urrutia: "Neither Laporte nor any other player has told me he wants to leave Athletic.
"The way the club works is to give as few clues as possible and work discretely. In these five years I think the message Athletic has put out is that we are not a selling club."
