Scott Young will leave his role with Cardiff City's first team following the appointment of Paul Trollope, WalesOnline understands.

Trollope is set to appoint his own backroom team after being unveiled as Russell Slade's successor, with Young not thought to be part of his plans.

Young was part of Slade's regime throughout his reign at the helm of the Cardiff team after performing the top job in a caretaker role following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in September, 2014.

It is believed he will retain some sort of role within the club, albeit not with the first team.

At this stage, it is unclear who will make up Trollope's new team, although former academy coach James Rowberry is a strong contender for an influential role.

Following his appointment Trollope, who joined the club in March, 2015, said: "It’s been well documented it’s a restructure. But every coach and manager has their own way of doing things and I’ll bring my own style.

Agreed Scott Young has done a lot for this club, and is Cardiff City through and through and is one one of the nicest most genuine ex footballers you'll ever meet.......

Scott young shouldn't be anywhere near the coaching side of things, but there should still be some place for him behind the scenes. He's a bluebird through and through, and knows what it means to be at the club.

It was cringe worthy when he was shouting nonsense from the sidelines. It was soon stopped.

Personally, I would have been happier if Young had resigned. If he loves the city then he should have been honest enough to realize he was completely out of his depth at this level. Trollope not my first, second or even third choice, but he already is moving the club in the right direction. He deserves my support, just hope he is not another Steve Maclaren (great coach, terrible manager).

But he is a Cardiff City LEGEND and as a player he was Cardiff City through and through, and Scott Young was in the era I felt totally connected to the Club. Maybe you are just a young un and wasn't around when Scott was playing but I was, But what he isn't is a inbred c**t Chief.
