In view of the appointment of Paul Trollope as the new head coach what are your thoughts?

shocking we needed change

Totally underwhelmed, but not totally surprised. I had hoped that Bellamy was going to play a part in the management set up, but I guess he knows a lot lot more about whats going on behind the scenes than we do!

Surely Choo has lost all credibility now having regard to his statement last week about having to make an appointment to ignite the fan base. I was getting quite ignited. Not now.

I'm surprised you thought Choo or anybody running City had any credibility at all

This is the poorest decision the club could have made...this was their chance to ignite the fans and get the crowds back..
I think Trollope has a worst record than Slade in Div 1. he made be a good coach..but this is a big step up and not a crowd pleaser..Tan you will reap what you sow...Choo and Dalman don't like they have any say...about time they all went

Has experience of management.
Has experience of the championship in the past as a coach, and currently. So he knows what is needed in the modern league.
He knows the players, so a big advantage in setting up the team.
He knows the setup ofthe club.
The players know him.
If we bring in younger, local players, he will know many of them, so a big advantage (and his connections to the Welsh team will help here)
So we can hope that it will be a an easy transition of management.

Clubs need continuity, and that is what we are getting.
Lets see what happens before criticising him.

I do not expect to be challenging for the play offs, more likely bottom half. But I can accept that if the club are using younger, local boys to build for the future. Probably 2/3 years we will see a settled team that can challenge.

Madness, a real risk.. football is a business, and like in any business you need to keep most of your customers happy, very rare you can keep 100% happy, but they really had a chance here, to at least get the fans back together, instead pissed most fans off more it would seem, enough very odd move from our club.

hope it works out for him, but can't see it, all I see is lot's of blue and Red!! empty seats, and no clear picture of way this board want to take this club, top 6 of league 1 sure.. but the Championship top Six mmm we will see!

happy to be wrong always if it means City do well.

More of last season to come then.

If you want change you need to mean it, last season we had Slade and Trollope and next season we have exactly the same.

No surprise, gone for the cheap option again. Ca'nt blame Trollope for taking the job. Maybe now they can tell us who the other 3 candidates were.

Of course its underwhelming but doesn't make it the wrong appointment.

Look at the abuse Ranieri got at the start of the season.

And how many times have we heard that one? Return to blue, season ticket price cuts, etc. etc.

The only thing which will ignite the fan base is success and that is not guaranteed whoever you appoint.

i'll give him a fair chance, that's the least any new manager deserves. he's already exerted significant influence over the team since he has been here so there seems little chance it will be a car crash appointment.

however, i put his chances of surviving the season at 50-50 at best. not because he is a risk, because he isn't, as he's worked with the team for a long time now (in modern terms), but because of the expectations here. it depends if he is given a proper chance by being backed with some money. its just common sense and realism really, but a significant part of our fan base completely lack any concept of that.

I think its the right choice, He's already here, he improved the team when he joined last term, a high profile manager would not have lasted, and we want to spend money on the team not the manager.

I dont think we would have been anywhere near the playoffs without Trollope last season.

Looking forward to the new season. :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

He has confirmed that the backroom staff will be new so it's a positive that we will see a new set up with a guy who has already had experience here so it shows he will be in charge of his own decisions.

I think with the signing of Immers obviously shows that Trollope was fully number one in the frame for the job.

More excited that he has a lot of understanding of the players here already and I think he has always had his own personal preference on the formation and team he would like to play because I don't think he has had an influence on selection and formation as all we seen was what Slade was all about which was a 4-4-2 in different varies and a 4-4-1-1 which we kind of seen in the second half of the season.

The guy has had experience at club and international level and he hasn't even done anything yet been announced manager and has received flack along with the board, just get behind the team because we play a part in the position we wanna be in. If you don't like it then take your negativity elsewhere until he has actually managed us into the season and has done something which isn't right or support someone else.

The was a few names out there that we could have got in and there is actually a lot of decent managers who not in a current job but we have to take a punt on them getting to know the team and bring the style of play they have which could take time maybe not even a whole season but more where we have a guy who I think will have his own ideas which will be new to us and he has an understanding of the current players here, safe choice but we all praised his influence in the second half of Slade's first season and now he is getting flack?

It may be overwhelming but we can only support the team and Trollope and see what happens. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Hoped for a real shock of a choice but thinking about it, continuity might be just the order. Obviously changes are needed and Trollope will know better than anyone what needs doing and I am sure has plenty of new ideas to improve us. If we improve on this season we should make the top 6.

Probably will be this appointment tells me why we wouldn't attract a better on paper man. I mean he's expecting to better this season gone next season but has to cost cut still and gets given players to work with and faves the sack if it don't work..just a face to take the blame really :laughing5:
You couldn't make it up.

I wouldn't have picked him as first choice but I'll support him he deserves a chance (lets remember when we got oints last season it was down to Trollope and not Slade ;) ) . He came across well in his first interview , he says he has fresh ideas and is bringuing his own backroom staff. I know he's no Warnock, Pearson etc but he may turn out to be a good fit for us got to give him a chance a ball hasn't even been kicked under his management yet

My initial reaction is one of disappointment, especially after the hints and rumours of new blood to kick-start a charge for the top tier.

What will I do? Same as always: Support my team and manager whatever my personal opinion. Trollope needs support to get the best job done so negativity needs to be kept at bay for the good of the club (but I can see many really disliking this appointment).

Oh well - Wait and see I guess.
