Blues interested in Cardiff centre-back

Blues are believed to be interested in Cardiff defender Ben Turner.
The center back is out of contract in the summer and is a free agent. Gary Rowett is aiming to strengthen his ranks before pre-season commences.
The former Coventry City loanee is one defender being considered and many Blues fans will agree the defensive line needs adding to as Paul Robinson’s future hangs in the balance.
The 28-year-old, who supported Blues since his childhood years, is known for being a strong unit at the back. Turner played against Blues in the final game of the season at the Cardiff City Stadium and was lucky not to have been sent off in the 1-1 draw.
Turner did however suffer another ankle problem at Coventry, which could leave him on the sidelines going into the new season.

Good move for him if it comes off. Wasn't he a blues fan? Mind you, money talks louder than anything

Such a shame things haven't worked out for Big Ben. Great player and you just know he will be a hit at Birmingham.

Has he actually been released then? I may have missed it, but i've seen no official announcement from the club.

19 games in 2 years so he has to go, football's a cruel business. i wish him all the best as he gave everything and has a fantastic attitude - and we'll all remember that goal at wembley.

One of my all-time top City memories - Big Ben ripping his shirt off and twirling it above his head right in front of us

Nothing official has been announced but one of my mates keeps in touch with him after Turner was sat on his table for the players presentation evening a couple of years ago. He told him that he was gutted that he had been released but blames it on his injuries.
If fit, Turner can be a quality centre back. I'd like to see him stay - Especially if Manga leaves too!

All depends what the medics are saying about Ben's chances of staying fit, I suppose. If he has even a half reasonable chance of doing so I would keep him. Our best defensive centre back and just about the only player we have capable of being a real leader. Definite captain material. If he goes we could end up regretting it big time.

With Ben Turner out of a contract in the summer, Gary Rowett could be on course to make yet another astute low-cost signing which he is quickly gaining a reputation for.
Ben Turner was born in Birmingham but played for Coventry City replacing now Crystal Palace centre-half Scott Dann, Turner then moved to the Welsh capital to play for Cardiff City.
With Turner being born in Birmingham, the signing could be a popular one amongst the Birmingham faithful to see him return to his hometown.
The move by Rowett may be out of necessity rather than desire. There is uncertainty about the future of veteran Birmingham defender Paul Robinson. If Robinson was to leave a club, Ben Turner could be the ideal replacement.
