Football even at the second tier level is a big money business. How many production, site, shop or factory managers have full autonomy on recruitment or purchasing. There are processes. I am not sure why a lot of posters are getting their knickers in a twist over the term head coach or manager.
The owner of the business has had his fingers burnt with previous incumbents and it now has to go through a committee. Sam Allydyce was on Soccer Sunday and said he will sit down with the owner and CEO and discuss next seasons transfers. That's a committee, I don't see why it is such a crime.
I know its all rumour and I appear in the minority but I am fairly optimistic about having two Welsh "managers" leading our club.

How much input the coaches have on transfer activity differs from one club to another. Villa & Newcastle got the balance wrong.

Head coach is getting to be the norm now as money gets tighter for lots of clubs, it gives owners more control over the way money is spent, if it's good enough for man city it's good enough for us!

When Clough was manager at Forest he used to sort out the price of the pies and look after the tea lady, those days have long gone. With Commercial managers, stadium managers, head of media and now head of football all reporting to the CEO then chairman then it is only correct that the first team coach (which is the primary purpose of the business) just looks after the squad of 18 and has a feed in from his assistant how the development team is doing.
It just seems normal to me.
If my boss wanted to buy a one million pound asset, the request would have to pass through a few levels of approval to be approved. That's why Vinny needs to be involved in the bigger decisions.
