Gylfi Sigurdsson is not the only Swansea player in demand. The Sunday Express is reporting Arsenal will turn to Swans captain Ashley Williams to shore up their defence in the event Per Mertesacker is not offered a new deal at the end of the season.

The paper claims Arsene Wenger will have to part with £20m for the 31-year-old central defender, who has been at the Liberty Stadium for eight years.

Given his age I just can't see this as credible.

Release Mertesacker on a free and spend 20 million on Ashley Williams, I can't see that happening

More nonsense. There's been talk of Williams and Arsenal for the past few seasons and Wenger certainly isn't going to spend 20 mill on a player with just another season or so in him at that level.

They needed him five years ago, no chance now, Swansea have had the best years out of him, he's already in decline, Arsenal need a much younger version.....

I'd agree with that!

That's not being anti-Jack; Williams has not performed in really consistent terms (other than for Wales) for some time now and I doubt Wenger sees him fitting into his team!

Can see him leaving for somewhere else, though
