Bolton’s retained list for the 2016/17 season has been released with a number of senior players leaving the club in the summer, the club have confirmed.

Following the relegation and financial issues that have plagued the club, a clear out was expected as the club looks to rebuild itself in League One.

Of the senior professionals leaving the notable names are David Wheater, Neil Danns, Emile Heskey, Stephen Dobbie, Liam Feeney, Rob Hall and Paul Rachubka who all will officially leave the club on June 30th.

The departure of David Wheater and Neil Danns will leave large holes in Bolton’s defence and midfield with the former a stalwart of Bolton and Danns being ever present in Bolton’s midfield.

As well as the senior players recent academy graduates Oscar Threlkeld and Niall Maher will also leave as Bolton prepares for the difficult task of bouncing back into the Championship from League 1.
With preparation for League One clearly already under way, the effectiveness of recruitment will be crucial to how Bolton fare next season.
