Malky Mackay has spoken to.

Malky could emulate the success he enjoyed at Cardiff with Celtic

Glasgow Evening Times

Saturday 14th May 2016

By Davie Hay, Football columnist

I WAS pleased to see that Celtic had spoken to Malky Mackay about the manager’s position at Parkhead.

It doesn’t mean that Malky will get the job which Ronny Deila will vacate following the Ladbrokes Premiership match against Motherwell at Parkhead tomorrow.

The Celtic board is just, quite correctly, going through the process of speaking to all of the outstanding candidates.

But I think he would do well if he got the nod.

The same also goes for many others who have been linked with the post – Roy Keane, Paul Lambert, Davie Moyes and Brendan Rodgers.

There may also be a dark horse that we don’t know about. Deila was a bit of a surprise appointment back in 2014.

I know there are some Hoops supporters who wouldn’t welcome Malky’s appointment,

But he has great coaching and managerial experience at a high level and enjoyed success at Cardiff.

His time there ended in disappointment when he was sacked. His reputation, too, has been tarnished by the controversy over the text messages which he sent which were allegedly racist and sexist in their nature.

I don’t know the full story about what went on at Cardiff, but I know Malky personally and I can tell you for a fact he is not that type of bloke. As I say, I think he would do well if he got it.

I have no doubt some supporters would try to make an issue out of the text message controversy if he got it. But I think most fans would accept it and give him a chance.

From a football perspective, he is a good manager and a coach. He did an exceptional job at Cardiff and I think he could do the same at Celtic.

Is that the Davie Hay who played for Celtic, and later for Chelsea?

Malky did a great job at Cardiff what anyones opinions are on what different managers would of done with the budget he had Malky did take us up for the first time in 60 yrs.
Celtic will be a tough job they expect to win the league as a minimum at least for the next 2 yrs and for a successful one to make the group stage of the CL and best a big club or two.

I've just looked on the Glasgow Evening Times' website, and it is the same bloke. Remember him playing for Chelsea in the 70s. Didn't realise that he had been Celtic manager too. Agree with what you say, Annis. Malky has been punished enough. The Celtic job could be ideal for him. Ex player, and 'Celtic minded', as they say. Next season, Rangers are back, (but, sadly, not Hibernian), so Celtic won't have it all their own way.

Whatever happens, though, I hope that Malky gets back into football soon.

Malky has just text to say that after reading your juvenile response, he has changed his routine so that he can go to bed an hour earlier tonight. He has also set his alarm clock an hour later for Sunday morning; all so he can lose a little more sleep over your comment! ;)

Personally, I wish Malky all the very best for the future and hope he soon lands a job at a decent club (i.e. not a descending Wigan Athletic) where he will undoubtedly show his managerial/coaching prowess again and Celtic would be a pretty good start; particularly now they won't have it all their own way for the first time in a while!

He may have messed it up (for himself) but Malky will have learned massive lessons from his tenure here at Cardiff City FC. He's paid a heavy price and is now entitled to re-build his career and reputation elsewhere

Time to start concentrate on who we have (or are about to have) rather than what who we had :ayatollah:

Hope he gets it :ayatollah:

There's a lot of negativity on here about Malky these days, but I think the people who are negative about him have selective memories.

What he did to get sacked was totally unacceptable, but I prefer to remember him for his achievements.

I've had a second look and, uhm, nope I don't see any hero worship, fella! ;)

All I see is someone claiming to be (quote): "Only interested in cardiff city's next manager" jumping on a thread thread with a couple of juvenile expletives in where there was really no need

Did it make you feel better?

Maybe he can go to Cletic, campaign for them to turn their team orange, play dog shite football, sign a shit striker for £8million and still get the fans to worship him two and a half years after he's played them all for mugs and left. :laughing5:
