NO DEAL FOR JOSE

14/05/16

The big news this morning is that we understand Jose Mourinho has no agreement in place to join Manchester United as manager this summer.

Earlier this week, reports in Italy suggested that the former Chelsea manager was "hours away" from agreeing to replace Louis van Gaal as manager at Old Trafford.

However, it is understood that no formal approach has been made and no agreement has been reached with the Portuguese.

I'd be surprised if no approach has been made to Jose Mourinho at some point of this season, as there has been no strong denial from either side. It is known that (a) he has strong support from certain members of the Manu Utd hierarchy, and (b) Mourinho himself covets this job more than others

I believe that certain people at the top are dithering and are waiting for LVG to effectively 'sack' himself come the end of the season and the club are (shockingly) not in The Champions League next season

A massive blow for them, but an opportunity for a craftsman like Mourinho to come in, reshape the team, maybe launch a strong bid for the Premier League title (they'd have less Euro clutter than those around them) before returning the year after refreshed and rebuilt

Only time will tell, but I believe LVG will be replaced and I believe the likely incumbent will be the self-acclaimed 'Special One' with a brief to sort it all out! :ayatollah:

I think they'll be talking, without a doubt.

If United make the top four tomorrow then LVG will stay there I think, but if not then I think Mourinho will come in.

Wouldn't surprised me if they had a loophole in his contract, like they did with Moyes, where they can get rid for less money if they don't make the top four.

Man Utd certainly appear to be 'hedging' their bets, Ned

All I will say is "C'mon Citeh!" ;) :laughing6: :laughing6:

I would agree Chris, it does seem that way :thumbright:

Personally prefer United to City. Their away fans, the loyal ones, were probably the loudest that came to City when we were in the Premier League.

City are one of the best teams in the country because of their money, but couldn't even fill their stadium when they were playing Real Madrid - the biggest club in the world - in a Champions League semi-final.

Agree, but I'm a Jose fan and want to see him at Man Utd strutting his stuff. Would be entertaining! :ayatollah:
