" Concerns "

Thu May 12, 2016 9:45 am

Great news this morning regarding Immers, he wanted it and the fans wanted it!

My ONLY concern is, why are we buying players without our new manager bring at the helm? this tells me that Trollope will be given this job, regardless of all the press and fans demanding someone else.

Otherwise, the new manager may come in and not take to Immers like we all have?

Anyone feel the same?

Re: Concerns

Yup tend to agree.

It's not unusual though for clubs to sign players without a manager.

Re: Concerns

New manager could know, but a player of his quality and is one most managers at this level would wNt.

Plus if we stalled and lost out that would be worse, worth the risk.

I accept that, we all have seen the quality Immers brings, but how much was he? £1m - £2m? I just would have thought that an almost Malky clean slate would have been better that buying players without a manager.

Hence I think Trollope is nailed on getting it.

Don't get me wrong, Trollope aint a disaster, but this was the clubs chance to appoint someone who would unite the fans once more, and i think Warnock would have been the right candidate, unless the club are in dialogue and he agreed to immers I don't know.

Because Vincent Tan still decides and signs the majority of our players and thats why we won't get a manager who will allow Tan to do this.
I am hearing the same Trollope has been offered the job as manager and is still thinking over it.

Re: " Concerns "

It's all very Newcastle Utd, but at least the transfer committee unlike Newc Utd are prepared to sign older players with little sell on value, in favour of being more certain of the impact the signing makes.

If Trollope is still dithering over whether to accept the job or not I'm wondering what is his problem

I just don't get it, what's the point in a so called Director of Football directing to Choo and the Manager, yet new players are being done without this process.

This is why the manager can only be Trollope.

Re: " Concerns "

Thu May 12, 2016 10:14 am

Because the manager does not select the players that we sign. It has been known for a while (even mentioned in the slade moving upstairs statement) that Cardiff have a committee that decides on the players that we sign, hence the reason that we are going to employ a head coach and not a manager. It's not unique to the city a lot of football teams are going down this route these days, some successful and some not so.

It is a concern (because that would point toward Trollope) but it maybe that the so-called "Transfer Committee" have seen enough of Immers to know he will be an asset to the club

We need to remember here that the club are said to be looking more for a Head Coach than a traditional manager, so they would be in a position to make that decision before he was (apparently) pinched by one of our Championship rivals

Great addition to the squad and I'm sure we'd all have something to say if he went to one of our rivals because we didn't move quickly enough  :ayatollah:

A new manager might want that £1-2mil for a player he knows is available. No doubting Immers has made a positive impact, but, it's quickly forgotten if a new £1-2 mil signing matches of betters what Immers has done. agree with the post

Annis, what is there for Trollope to think over? :?

If already offered, he either wants it or he doesn't and any apparent stalling doesn't paint a good picture!

Hopefully, he'll read this Forum to gauge fans opinion and see that (in general) they want a clean broom and he will then decide to remain a coach; a role in which he has had a generally positive influence at the CCS :ayatollah:

Slade is just being looked after for the good work he did for Tan and to be fair Slade clawed back £millions for Tan.

Chris,

Trollope is involved with Wales as well.
Plus maybe whats in the contract? ?
Plus how much of say will he get on new signings and maybe he's not a yes man like Slade?

Re: " Concerns "

I'm beginning to think we can forget Warnock and the like. As good as Immers is, I am not sure if non-footballing people + Slade should be spending the Transfer Budget, I'd give whatever they spent on Immers to Warnock, who knows, he might of wanted to sign Immers but I prefer his judgement that Tan & Slade's !

So why the negative comments then
By the way tan does sign all the players (as he is our club owner and he has the last say )
But we now have a transfer committee and I'm sure they ALL have a say

Thanks, Annis

All that would make sense, although I'm of the opinion that if he needs to think about it too long then that should be sending out very negative signals to the club

Maybe (and rightly so) he enjoys the day to day involvement of coaching players for club and country far more than he fancies another go on the high pressure and inevitable sacking merry-go-round? A good fit IMHO, if he decides to stay on as he is (in a purely coaching role) :ayatollah:

He is a good player Steve, I do not know the fee, but, Feyenoord can make money from him, he has at least 5 years left playing at a high level (body/no injuries permitting)

fans and our transfer committee can and have been wrong plenty of times. Tan's control on the club gets in the way of a top manager coming here, and spending a decent budget to get promotion.

Tan wants to do it himself, to bask in the adulation that comes his way.

The issue is that although a good championship player he is a specific kind of player, if a manager comes in and wants to play a certain style then he may not fit into the system. Seems a big risk to me considering the amount of money reported
