Sky sources report Sheffield United have sacked manager Nigel Adkins.

Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder is expected to replace the former Southampton manager in the next 48 hours.

Wilder, who is a former Sheffield United player, had been in talks with Charlton Athletic earlier this week, but discussions broke down and he now looks set to join his former club instead.

Adkins is a gd manager it just hasnt worked out at sheffield utd, he'll be another name in the frame of jobs up and down the country over the next few weeks
