' A ROPY PIECE OF BUSINESS BY CARDIFF '

By Jamie Kemble

Wednesday 11th May 2016

There’s no serious bad piece of business this season because of the lack of fee paid for players, but the loan signing of Sammy Ameobi certainly stands out as a ropy piece of business. Granted, not an awful lot was paid for Ameobi’s services for the season but even so, it’s a move which really hasn’t worked out.

Ameobi joined back in the summer from Premier League Newcastle United but he’s failed to nail down a spot in the starting lineup at the Cardiff City Stadium. The (sometimes) pacey winger was painfully inconsistent from the word ‘go’ and supporters never really understood the lack of quality.

The 24-year-old rarely showed a high level of quality in a Cardiff City shirt and while the quality seems to be there deep down, it was never extracted during his time at Cardiff. Ameobi will almost certainly return to the North-East with a feeling of regret that things didn’t work out at Cardiff City.

We knew Ameobi had asthma before he came here and many already pointed out that he could only last 20 mins max.

Letting Javi Guerra go back in August was without doubt the worst piece of transfer business of the season as there was the player with the quality to make a difference to our forward line. I wonder how much we had to pay him to get him to agree to cancel his contract ? Get the answer to that and whatever we paid for the Ameobi loan would be pocket change by comparison.

Annis we were the odd goal in just 3 games from making the playoffs this season and Guerra was in my opinion the player to score them or create them for others. Yet another "Non Football" piece of business by the club which cost the club dearly, just like moving Jones & Mason without signing replacements.

Ken Choo talked about not making the playoffs as a "Failure" and in my opinion it's not just about the manager here as the Board and of course our Owner are at least equally responsible if not more responsible.

Immers showed us how a quality player can improve the team and Guerra is a quality player and it's scandalous that he was never given a run in the team to show it.

Spot on again Gary, just a goal scorer from being a Premier League club next season.
We still have a good squad to start next season, just needs a striker and a couple more quality players :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Nope.

Nothing to do with his quality he didnt want to be here and his attitude wouldnt have helped

Ameobi doesn't really fit into how we play. Doesn't do enough as a winger in a 442 and not strong enough upfront. Pointless signing with Slade as manager in my opinion.
